SSBM is alot more fast paced = more chances for mindgames. And in one of the first page posts about SSB having better DI......what DI?
This is the DI you can do in SSB

You really think there's no DI in n64?

That's using a frame by frame editor with save states to achieve inhuman accuracy. I can't explain it as well as ant-d, but I think i have the gist of it. After you get hit, there are 10 frames where you can DI by pressing the direction. Only 10 frames, consecutively. Only the best would be able to get even 2 hits out of 10 there. So when seeing that, keep in mind, it's inhuman perfection, you'll never see that happen in an actual match. It's the same thing that keeps Fox from his full potential.

"ssbm would be good in my mind if it didn't use the GC CONTROLLER!!!"

HOLY CRAP ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!

I thought I was the ONLY ONE!!!

You think it feels like slogging through molasses, right? Like... especially those @#%@%!! shoulder buttons?!

Oh man.
I HATE those L and R buttons on the gc, worst invention ever

Not for drills. I'd argue that SSB64's DI is far more affective against drills than Melee's. Not that it matters because drills are pritty ****ty in melee anyway.

I love them both but I prefer melee. I played SO much classic last year it got to the point where me and my smash buddy were just exchanging 0-death comboes with characters of our choice, we used to have some sick vids I wish we had kept em but my friend foolishly deleted em.

I find melee as a competitive game can be pushed much further than the original could because of the added techs, increased speed, and wavedash, among other things.

I loved classic the day it came out, but Melee will always be my favorite, I think even when brawl comes out Im gonna be a melee fanboy.

The only reason why that is the case is because drills have a crapload of hitbox lag in SSB, making it really easy to Smash DI them.

Drill attacks? Oh, I would definitely have to agree with you there, the drill attacks in SSBM just plain sucked!

I think the fact that SSBM took steps to nerf the combos made it a better and more balanced game. It also adds more skill to the comboing, as you need to chase the techs and the DI a lot more than you need to in SSB. SSBM also has a lot more usable tactics, which I think makes it more interesting the fun.
wow and u run 64 at apex and set the 64 rules wtf
