I've also heard of another code made by someone called sputnik or something which enables a result screen for the alloys. The code i asked to be ported is them with animations in the victory screen instaed of being in a t-like position. So you need to have both unfortunately. Smash wiki mentions something about the result screen and shows u a picture but thats it.

EDIT: Does anyone know if Qaomen is still here because he was very good with getting PAL CSPs to work. I downloaded the pac he uploaded and i used the file replacement V2.1a after i put CSPs in it using BRAWLBOX. I only removed the _en part from the main file name and when i loaded it from the homebrew channel using Gecko os nothing happened. no CSPs. PLEASE HELP. I have been trying to get this to work all day non stop.
_en has to be behind it, lol. He said that.

Ok I port and make codes (Mainly by accident) so I'll give you an example of porting a code:
I have the "Ultimate superman" code for players 1, 3 and 4 in Pal (No Player 2 version untill I ported it). I also found another code called "Player X is super" or something like that...Players 1, 2, 3 and 4 values were there. so I got "Ulitimate superman" code for player 3 and replaced player 3 value with player 2's.

I read riivolution should be mentioned in the riivolution thread (and I did :p ), but since it's been managed to get riivolution working with Pal ocarina codes (more than 255 lines of course ;) ), I thought I'd post here too.

I suppose this place would be the place to discuss changing codes for Pal Brawl+? Since I don't have USB Gecko I'm a bit slow in converting codes, but just crosschecking adress values, I've been able to edit the level codes.
So a stupid question to stop with: How much actually can be changed for Pal Brawl+ quickly, and what things will require more thought, considering the current file replacement possibilities? (well, hope that PAC file converter eventually comes along ;) )

He stopped? oh... and he nearly finished aswell
Its not nessesary. You can use the file patch code form Riivolution with an XML file that allows codes.. Only thing is that you must not have the file patch code in the GTC File, otherwise the game will freeze.
So you have custom music and textures + your other codes ^^
Someone posted it all for me in the Riivolution Discussion thread, just search it up ^^
All the information is with it lol.

luigi that first code (raygun mod) was already done if I remember correctly.
the other ones are just modifications of existing codes.

they are nice to have for yourself, but you can't take credit for actually "maiking" them. just saying, I guess some ppl will be happy with them.

Even the smallest code could be hard to port. Trust me. I tried porting one code... I dunno what it was, but it was ferrreaaakin hard. But unless you have a USB Gecko... It would be easy to port. Unless there is another method such as "deltamaker". I sometimes use delta maker for the non ASM Codes. But you probably wouldn't know what a ASM Code is so yeah... I learnt this kind of stuff by reading Lol.
QFT

I dunno wath this deltamaker is but most of this is sooo true.
I also learnt a lot by reading.

I heard Riivolution can't read .gct files, are you sure?
Yes, I'm sure, I can take replays longer then 3 minutes, and I have default setting modifier, that stuff, all together with custom music.
Its possible.
Do you want me to post all the stuff I'm using with someting how to do it or something?

*Sighs* At times I think reading my posts must be a real pain. But how can I tell, I'm me myself and am used to me...

Thanks for the response in the riivolution thread Doomfire, it's nice to know the codes worked for someone else on Pal :) .
Yeah, so here's the link to the XML file for more than 255 lines of ocarina codes for Pal riivolution: http://www.mediafire.com/?rdwwuovynzm . (you'll need to rename your RSBP01.gct to riivolution.gct if you don't change the XML file, and you need the codehandler.bin in the riivolution folder)

On a side note, the only reason the codes didn't work for Pal was because the ocarina adress offset was wrong. It wasn't the same off set that could be found for Pal in the gameconfig.txt used until now. Then again, who really cares?

Sigh.. If only I had a USB Gecko... If pw had a PAL Version of SSBB Then we wouldn't have to try to port the file patch..

Yeah I just realised after posting. The code pack I mentioned was made by "TheWill" in his other pack I downloaded half the codes didn't work (Probably cause they were USA) and I think that the same thing happened with this code...

Oh yeah, it's the PAL version

Just out of curiosity, can anyone else change the CSP for the CSS? I can only change the CSP for after the fights.

What's the problem?
I can, I'm using Riivolution now though. Dunno about you. I go here to change the CSPs.

Anyone else using Riivolution should request a song in darksamus's music factory :p

Well, I was wondering how hard it was to port the NTSC-U pac files to Pal, so I tried it myself. Since I was to stupid to use Brawl Box (nah, I was just to lazy to switch to windows to run the programm :p), I decided to try identifying hex differences and changes those. Anyhow, it was a real pain doing that...

So... I decided I'd write my own .pac conversion script. Here the upload http://www.mediafire.com/?2ty3mmmjzxt .
Explanations: The conversion script is for linux (ubuntu to be precise...) in the moment. I'll see if I make a windows version if I find the right programms. Essentially what the script does is that it takes a file called xxxpal.pac, the standard pal file of your pac, xxxus.pac, the standard ntsc-u file of your pac and xxx.pac, the pac file you want to convert and crossreferences the differences between the pal and ntsc-u file and applies them to the xxx.pac. In somewhat. The script isn't perfect, but hey it converts your files relative quickly :) .

How to work it: Make a small folder and put the extracted contents of the downloaded folder in it. You'll need the following standard linux apps: colrm, awk, cut, hexdump and diff. The sfk programm (for ubuntu) is included (awesome little tool). Afterwards put the standard pal pac file in the folder and name it (your pac name)pal.pac. Do the same with the standard ntsc-u pac file changing to (your pac name)us.pac. Finally, put the ntsc-u type pac you want to convert into the folder naming it (your pac name)us.pac.
Now, edit the script in a simple text editor and change the content of the PacName variable to the Name of your pac file without the pac ending (e.g. PacName=FitNess). Run the script, wait almost a minute, and your file is converted.

I haven't done much testing, but I converted three of the gold Brawl+ character pac and the game didn't crash, and the characters had sound :D . I tried Ness to and saw he had his double jump cancel, so yeah, it works at least to a degree.
Don't hope for anything to fancy if I write a windows version. I write simple scripts and batch files not user-friendly software :p .

Too bad the pac converter thread is closed. I could have posted this. Maybe it would have help Dantarion finish his pac file converter.

Those who can: please test and tell me if it works or not (sorry to the windows users in the moment). But hey, at least it's a provisoric pac converter!

PS: I forgot to add. My character testing was performed using riivolution with Pal Brawl+ codes. (curse you weird and somewhat frequent Link/Samus ZAir game freeze bug...). Just in case.

THIS IS AWESOME! GREAT WORK!

Cos, this means I'm giving my present to you instead: I'll write you a song. Choose theme, instruments, meaning, style, beat, whatever. You'll get a tune for free, made by me : )

Also, if there is anyway I can send you one dollar I would love doing so, you could send me a PM about it if you like! And hey, is there any way I can help you doing a microsoft version of this? I'm not good a programming, but I could help you with something else to give you more spare time, and I could help test the program and stuff.

This is awesome man, thanks a lot for doing this! I can't wait to play brawl minus with SFX on! :D<3:D<3:D<3

We have tried it now, and it semi-works.

All the diferences between the PAL and NTSC .pac files are brought into the .pac you want to convert, but SFX added, like the YESZ-SFX on CF's knee does not convert.

However, fixing the added SFX's by hand: we're talking about 1-10 SFX's/character tops, which is a LOT less than converting it from scratch would be. Which means: GOOD WORK COS.! It could be better, but we're getting there!

okay windows users, there are some ways you can run this script without removing you beloved operating system(virus). Following is ordered in performance order, the best performing solution first, and well as long as you don't format anything you cant screw up beyond recognition, lol:

-Dual boot: burn a liveCD pop it into CD and restart the comp. During the installation you can at a certain point choose to install the systems "side by side". This means you will be able to choose which OS to run at startup of comp from a simple text based menu.

-Wubi installer: install ubuntu OS inside your windows one, not harder to install/uninstall than a regular windows setup.exe, this is very close to dual booting as you cant run both systems at the same time (as you will be able with a solution mentioned later in this post).

-Run Ubuntu directly of previously mentioned live CD, you dont need to install ubuntu to use it. Anything you do during this so called live session wont be saved though, so you need to mount your windows partition(which you do simply by double clicking the hardrive that has the label something along the lines like 300GB media device/filesystem or what its called nowadays XD)

-Create a virtual machine and run it inside the virtual machine. Theres a link to a very simple application that handles virtual machines at the bottom of this post. After installing it, create a new virtual machine, choose linux and ubuntu from the lists. Forward to harddrive, create new harddrive(it will become a file on your computer, no partitioning). forward and finish. now when you have created the virtual machine highlight it by clicking on it once, then click preferences, go to storage, somwhere there you can choose what CD to run, choose the Ubuntu.iso you hopefully have downloaded, fire up the machine, install ubuntu and you can run ubuntu inside windows. You are emulating Ubuntu inside windows.

links:
http://www.virtualbox.org/
http://releases.ubuntu.com/releases/10.04/

as for what CD to use I suggest 10.04 release candidate, its stable enough and well since its the newest its the best, XD, if you dont know if you have a 64-bit or 32-bit system, pick the 32-bit iso, as 64-bit hardware can run 32-bit too. Choose 32-bit if you are going for a virtual machine no matter what hardware your computer have.

Anyone with better sense of organisation can edit this post so it will become more understandable.

@rkey: If you or someone else wants to ask me a question about this post, you could notify me about it so I dont miss it, :D. Pojke.

So, quick and probably stupid question: is everyone still using 4.2? That's the latest version available on the Brawl+ website and I can't seem to find any new ports, yet NTSC people are using 7.0 or whatever comes next. Is there any way for Europeans to play NTSC Brawl+, have I missed something or are we still busy porting? :x

The converter tool isn't something that mighty. It won't just convert Brawl+ :p . I don't really have any possibility to change the ASM codes to Pal (the codes in the *.gct file). My personal opinion is that we're better using as little of the ASM codes as possible and keeping most changes fixed in the .pac files. However, that's a call to the NTSC-U coders, to make the porting easier ;) . I'm not making promises about further developement of the converter (then I don't have to worry I'll disappoint anyone) and what happens will happen.

Another step towards an updated Pal Brawl+, but we still have a way to go :/

Looticforgothispassword, kudo on the ubuntu install guide. Dual-boot is the best ;) Boot linux or that infested partition :p ;)

PS: Yeah, I somewhat like money in general, but I definitely will not accept any money for the work I did here.

Edit:
Some updates:
The current PacConverters for Linux and Windows:
Linux
Windows

Converted charater pac files from Brawl+ 7.0 :
b+pal2.tar.bz2
b+pal.tar.bz2

Yup, there are single sounds that don't get converted, but I don't see a simple method of changing that, since I'm not familiar enough with the pac file structure. You'll just have to change the last few missing sounds by hand if you want them in the moment. Sorry for that :/ .
@Rkey: how quickly were you able to find the missing sfx locations and change them? Just so that we have an estimate?

So how the converters work (the are two):

Rename your original pal pac to PacNamepalz.pac and the original ntsc-u pac to PacNameusz.pac. The to be converted file should be called PacName.pac (You are free to choose the PacName. Just be SURE not to end the file name with the letter z...)
The converter will convert all files with this name structure in the file the converter is in.

The difference between the two converters:
BatchPacConverter.sh keeps checking through differences between the original Pal and NTSC-U pacs (usually doing the whole proceedure in three loops) and converts the differences found to the modified NTSC-U pac file.
PacConverter.sh only loops once.

Bugs until now ( :p , that's how it is...): Somehow Pikachu Semi-crashed in the BatchPacConverter.sh. The diff file got corrupted. Yoshi gets caught in an endless loop with the BatchPacConverter.sh. My tip, if a file doesn't convert using the BatchPacConverter.sh use PacConverter.sh.
On a side note: Mario's pac files are identical in pal and ntsc-u. As if they couldn't have done that for all characters :( .

Notes on the Windows version:
You'll need to install cygwin to run the script. Once you've done that, you can execute the the script from one of cygwin's subfolders using the command line (that's how I tested it). Sadly the windows version is emulated, and thus really slow (it takes almost five minutes to convert a single pac file. Still quicker than humans of course ;) )

I don't suspect I'll be updating much more in the moment.
Maybe I'll try finding out something new for Pal, maybe not... (I have some ideas, but they're likely harder to achieve, than I'm capable)

Hhm... the opening posts could use some updating... the pal ocarina RSB xml could be linked and it would be nice to see what needs to be done for Brawl+ 7.0 and what has been done.

Final update:

New BatchPacConvter2.sh and updated pac files in the download links.
Rewrote the script. It's faster than before and applies changes better. Link, Peach, Snake and Yoshi don't work as nicely, but still better than before. Yoshi is the worst (For some reason he always says Yoshi when he turns and walks :p) Haven't tested the windows version yet, hope it works.
But regard this as the final version (I don't think I'll be improving from here... I'm satisfied with this version :) )

Ok, I can now completely redo my .gct

Can someone put what they use up (it can't have stuff like superman codes) and I'll use it as a basis?

Must have the latest tried, tested and working file replacement code, the rest is up to the user's personal choice.

Everyone just woke up and posted a lot of interesting stuff!

@Cos. The ones missing in the FitCaptain.pac were about 4-5 SFX's, not counting added SFX's it's just one SFX that was not converted, which was the "FALCON..." SFX. Adding the missing SFX's for all characters could possibly, with some focus and motivation (I've got that ^_^) be done in less than 2 hours. I'll get a PC running in 2-3 days, so I could help with that, both brawl+ and brawl-.

@Volcanic Doomfire, the "colored shields code", will it make the shields look like the shields used in brawl+? You know, darker inside and a brighter outline?

No, thats the last one thats ported.
We don't really need a new one because Riivolution has a WAY stronger file patch code that wil also give you custom music and will make your hacked stages work, and you can now also use codes with it.
So I suggets you check that out.

I've tried, I just don't get it

I need an extensive tutorial or something, outlining all differences between PAL and NTSC D:
