1-player idea (long read)

Ok, if anyone remembers that post I made for a 1-player mode that resembled that of WWE game season, so I've come up with an idea that may tune down the seriousness of WWE to a suitable SSB level (I'll use confirmed characters for examples)

<Introduction>

My idea involves a sort of lobby-like area where you would start, and you could walk around and talk to others. You'd start by picking a character and difficulty. It would start with a cutscene showing you entering the door and everyone in the room giving you the new guy look. There would be a few rooms to enter and talk to people, here's a few possibilities,

Front Desk
Main Lobby
Battle Transporter
Lounge
Hallway
Music room
Wardrobe area
Bathroom

More on those later

<Battling>

The actual fights themselves would work like normal, however there are certain ways to get into battles. Let's say your link and you see pikachu wandering around, you go up to him and talk there would be a few options one being to challenge, and chances are they'll accept. You can also be challenged by someone for various reasons. There are also scenarios other than one on one. Let's go back to link again. Say your walking around and you see kirby watching metanight praticing his chivalry in a corner. You challenge kirby to a fight but meta comes over and says something so now your dealing with both let's say fellow original smasher samus overheres this and overs to team up with you, and you could say yes or no, and in would become either 2 on 2, or 2 on 1 depending on your answer. Now let's say you see snake and samus ganging up on pit, you come to help but pit doesn't respect you so it becomes a 2 0n 1 0n 1 scenario. There would be others for 3 0n 1, 3 on giant, team melee, the list goes on and on, the plausabilities are endless!

<Front Desk>

Here you can few your win/loss record, and your ranking. You begin at the bottom and work your way up. You can also few the hisory of all the matches (matches will go on without you so your not involved in every fight). The front desk would be run by a non-playable character like waluigi (if he is non-playable)

<Main Lobby>

Here you can talk to the various characters who happen to be there, this is where there most likely to accept challenges because there waiting for a fight

<Battle Transporter>

This is where you go when you are in a fight. Everyone involved comes and you can set the rules for the match. Depending on the scenario your in, certain options cannot be changed. After your done, You get transported to your destination to begin the fight.

<Lounge>

This is where you'll find most characters hanging around. However they are all relaxing and less likely to accept challenges. If they add minigames, they'll be played here

<Hallway>

A pretty straightforward area. A simple hallway with personal rooms for every character along the side. If you can't find a character, look here. There will also be a room for you that you can go to to exit this mode, and if the auto-save feature is gone, to save. Your trophies can also be seen here.

<Music Room>

Another straightforward area where you can listen to various SSBB music

<Wardrobe Room>

Basically a place to change your costume

<Bathroom>

This is not the room you think it is. Once in a while you may see someone there, but there's a much bigger purpose. As soon as you go in the first time, you'll find a note on the ground that says "walk forward." When you walk in front of a stall that says do not disturb, you'll get transported to a secret area. This where you register unlockable characters into the game. If you complete the criteria to unlock a character, you can fight him to register him into this mode here.

<Winning>

There's one aspect of this mode that I haven't talked about, winning. At first your goal appears to be number one in the rankings. Once you become number 2, whoevers #1 will challenge you do a fight for his spot in the ranking on the battlefield. After you win, you come back to see everyone unconscious. One person says a giant creature came through looking for you (that would be your giant final boss for your character.) While your opponent gaurds the area, you go defeat him to clear the mode.

<Conclusion>

This mode would be long and would definatley add more depth to the 1-player mode. Thnx to Godsmack for writing songs I listened to while writing this. And please respond I don't wnat this thread to go to waste:mad: :(

Awesome.

I like the suggestion of character interaction and respect, but I'd rather this was a seperate unlockable mode (ala All-Star), since I'd prefer to fight through the game normaly first.

Kudos

I love this idea; you get a pos-rep.

I've always been a fan of RPG's, so this is very intriguing. I think it'd be nice if there was a KOTOR style in that adventure--you could be good or evil, picking fair fights, or gaining up on others.

You really deserve props for this, because this thread is the best idea for single player yet.

Are you talking about debug or something? Yeah, what if you could play as Giga Bowser?

P.S. What's up with your signature?

I see what you're getting at, but SSB never makes you talk to people... it's all about the fighting.

I like it, but there's one MAJOR problem.

Basically, you'd have to get Japanese and English voice actors for every character. And how would you be challenged by characters (Like Pikachu or Yoshi) who can't speak any human language? Or Link who desn't talk period?

Eurgh, sound bites accompanied with massive amounts of text.

I can just remember Sonic saying "Cool!" When the subtitles clearly indicate
that he ISN'T saying cool.

EDIT: Congratulations, RVD_fan, this was a genuinely entertaining to read and intelligent post!

It's also the first non-arrongant "I AM T3H NUMBUH 1" (or arguing with me) type post of yours
I've ever read.

A very nice idea. Quite fun to work with, though it would make a nice unlockable mode.

The only problem is how it fits in with other modes, it actually sounds like the game menu to an extent. I love rpg's, and I love the Wrestling games, but I don't know about this...

Yes, Text Dialogue with respective grunts/phrases is a must. Who'd want to hear Link talking?(sure, his Zelda TV Show voice didn't actually blow, but his only video game voice was beyond teh suckage)

I think there should be a ranking sytem or levels where you do not get stronger but you gain access to higher difficulty areas if you go up in rank/level.

The boos of course ould be chuck norris.

A very well thought out idea. Very nice and detailed. I have my doubtsabout it working with Brawl though. To me, Smash Bros. has always been a simple style game, you just pick it up and a minute later your in a zany fight. While a lot of your ideas seem good, (rankings, character rooms) it seems like it would take some time away from the actual fighting. Still I comend you for putting some good thought into this idea of yours.

Sounds like fun.

I too watch WWE on a regular basis and by WWE games often. It sounds cool depending on which way you do it. In the earlier Smachdown games such as Just Bring it! or Shut Your Mouth it had that concept but with one major problem. There were no character voices!! After the first two Smackdown games, the concept was dropped

To make a long story short, It would be a good idea if you have character voices

Bump it by all means, it is good, I dont think it will work, I hope that they stay true, if the SSB series is somehow ruined.... not saying this is a bad idea, just that it could easily go wrong, I'd rather they spend time balencing, and maybe fixing some characters range, good idea once again, but not to likely

Sakurai (or however you spell it) said that they are going to make the single player more fun because they finally have the time to do it. They didn't for 64 because Nintendo said to just release it. They didn't for melee because it was supposed to be a launch title. They said they are fleshing out the single player as well as balancing the multiplayer, so something like this could easily get in.
