I think the NES and SNES Mini were aimed at the wrong audience. They should’ve aimed them at poorer families and players who can’t afford new consoles instead of collectors, like Sega and Namco’s plug and plays. (albeit of a higher quality than AtGames’ of course)

I actually dislike compilations. I like one game, one slot on the home menu.
Compilations are often lazy whereas single games like the Sega Ages series focus on one game and add bonus content to it.
Compare Sega Ages Sonic the Hedgehog to Sega Genesis Classics Sonic the Hedgehog.
One has TLC, and the other is a lazy ROM dump with a few bugs.

Granted, one has one game for $8, whereas the other has like 20 games for $30, but you get what you pay for.

I'd much rather pay for one great game with extra features and top notch presentation than pay for a compilation of ROM dumps with filler content and minimal effort.

It's kinda like saying, "Would you rather have Batman '89 in 4K, HDR, 10-bit color, 3D visuals, top of the line sound, and a gallery of extra features, or the collection of 90s Batman movies in 480p with passable sound?"

I’d take the collection. I’m not a fan of high-res graphics and as much as I love DVD bonus fluff, actual content is more important.
