I can't say I agree with this take. Whenever me or my opponent airdodges or rolls, it's generally to a fault. The only situation where said "panic options" would be rewarding is if it's used sporadically and strategically.

It's surprisingly more optimal to directional airdodge away into the ground or a platform at lower percents. A lot of the time you can avoid taking a hit entirely by combining the tech/roll animations with the airdodge invulnerability. This is especially true when you consider how much more consistent it is for peopel to tech in this game. I suck at teching into the ground or platforms, but I partly think it has to do with the fact I never choose panic options. I think teching has a lot to do with people just panic airdodging.

Meanwhile, having the options in mind and waiting to react to them will not always happen, and stuff like this is especially true online.
