Does Digimon count as a non video game franchise or did that started as a gaming franchise? If the former, I would say Digimon is the most viable non gaming franchise deserving entry into Smash.

Digimon started as a Tamagotchi clone, right? because in that case it's about as much a game as Game and Watch is.
