I think people sometimes wonder why I press as many buttons as I do, but I think it's just necessary at times. You can't react to everything in this game and rationalize and calculate everything that goes on, and sometimes you just have to let your instincts run it.

Unfortunately, having these periods of frustration is the trade off to learning a skill like fighting games. And being a competitor means you will never be totally ok with losing. I think the payoff for the best in the world is being able to body 99.9% like it's nothing and that is what counts as their "fun".

Until we can be the best, if ever, we'll just have to suffice with other means to decompress. I like playing doubles for that and I force myself on occasion to quit Smash for a week or so and play other games. Been playing GTA: Vice City this past week and while the gameplay can be frustrating, the overall game is fairly relaxing and fun. But I'm starting to feel like returning to Smash again and I probably will soon. And that will repeat the cycle.

Getting good will always have some degree of obligation to it, it's more about whether that's worth it to you in the end. I would say to allow yourself some time to decompress in whatever way you want. If that means playing other game modes or other games or other hobbies entirely then you should try it.

I never force myself to quit, and I don't think I've gone a full week without it, with the exception of last year when I outright didn't have access to my console. Ironically, I was playing pretty well at the time, in spite of barely playing as much.

Maybe it's time to take an extended break and see how you feel about Smash afterwards. It does a lot for me.

Depends on the era and what you're doing in GTA. The overall gameplay isn't that bad or difficult, but some missions in the older ones just straight up require you to get lucky. The one I'm currently stuck on forces me to race a guy in a car that is twice as fast without being burdened by the clunky controls like I am. You kind of just have to hope he ****s up royally and gets stuck somewhere.

How do they randomly get stuck? Does AI really variate?

Depending on oncoming traffic, how the roads bend, and other obstacles, he might end up crashing or you might be able to force a crash that will allow you to quickly pull ahead and build a lead. If you get really lucky, he might get stuck in a alley and trap the AI in a loop that has them constantly crashing into the wall.

I tend to find that it's me that ends up crashing and cause him to gain an insurmountable lead. It doesn't help that my car is far less durable than his and the cops show up at a certain point in the race and only go after me it seems. Not to mention glitches and other oddities that can sometimes make my car randomly roll over.

It makes you really appreciate modern game design and how far we've come lol.
