For long-time FE users/fans in Smash, it practically is novel, seeing how few bow/lance/axe users we even get from that series (which is zippo). Byleth's toolkit is a result of Sak seeing them having little to work with beyond whipsword and going "that tears it, I'll bring the triangle here myself, we got enough Marths".

Inkling Man
I do wish he was part of the case game though. Not because he feels like a base game character but because we would have gotten a lot more Banjo content. Mumbo would be an assist trophy, we would get a lot more music tracks and spirits and we would have gotten a Banjo-Kazooie WoL map and a Gruntilda boss battle.
