Dante's weird. Rumors for him in Smash came slightly before E3 along with a buttload of DMC games for Switch. Since then, all the game rumors have come true. Confidence on Dante, however, isn't super high. There's kind of a joke among insiders that fake Smash news is often tacked onto real leaks to get it more attention but murky the waters. This happened with Geralt (Witcher III for Switch), Sol Badguy (Guilty Gear for Switch) and Gordon (Half Life Alexa Play Despacito or whatever it's called), among others. My NoA ambassador friend also expressed strong doubts of Dante being real in early November. That said, I don't know. I'm pretty confident in another Capcom rep but my confidence isn't universal. Most of my contacts think Capcom is dead in the water for more Smash reps. I personally think either Dante is real or he's a red herring for another Capcom character, my personal guess is Phoenix Wright.

Evidently, even sources aren't safe from fan rules. In any case, in the event that we do get more Capcom characters, I think that we may get ones that aren't brought up too much (mainly because Sakurai focuses on whoever's got the most potential for interesting movesets, rather than strictly notoriety).
