Not to put a damper on your experiment, but IMO Hero is extremely overrated. He's very slow in his normals, but relies on them to fill his meter at the same time. Your specials being random means there's no real way to ration them. He also gets murdered by rushdown and as far as I can tell, just straight invalidated by top tiers.

He's still pretty fun though, I just don't see him winning anything important. Word of advice, focus on Bair rather than Up-air. Up-airs virtually useless outside of specific (low damage) combos. Bair covers everything from above you to below you and is going to be your main spacing tool in the air.

I never got the impression he's a really good character. He's just janky, and I think everyone else knows that. Even in spite of Down B, his other specials are still kind of broken.

Bair is extremely slow, there's really not much to it other than a retreating wall. I use it a decent bit, but I think his combo potential is in Uair. It can still combo into mid percents a bit, but it's potential seems to lie in the combo extensions into platforms (like a mini Cloud Uair). Landing it in neutral is the hard part; it reminds me of Joker's Fair 1, in that regard.

I personally just liked Hero for his design and moves rather than "meme" things. His mobility is somewhat good in spite of his lacking frame data (Bair and Fair, namely). Apparently his Up B OoS is pretty ridiculous, as well as a fast grab (Frame 6 standing, about Frame 8-9 dashing) that goes well with Acceleratle. I'm theorycrafting B-Reverse stuff with Neutral B, which helps with landing mixups (can also be canceled with either shield, airdodge or jump). Side B is fairly quick and packs 14 damage.

Like you say, you're charging your MP off of your normals, which is probably half the equeation Hero players might not be looking into.

I'm also starting to realise, I see little point in command specials in neutral unless you want a quick buff (Oomph, Psyche or Accelerattle). I don't think any smart player will fall for any of the projectiles (you either just shield or jump over them), which only sounds like wasted MP and stage control. Only things that come to mind other than buffs are Magic Burst and Kaboom, but you're covering the ledge and holding the advantage at that point.

Any Hero player is free to step up and correct me if I'm wrong.
