  • Yeah, Rutgers. If I can't make it, Atomsk will still be going, so the Dazzle will get there one way or another.
    WAIT.

Yeah, he lied, he's going >__> I'll probably go too, if I can make good progress on college applications. Will you be there?
In matchup thread, posted by Atomsk: XD lolz i'm not going to the one at RU i'm going to C3 in VA

:( This also decreases my chances of going...
I am indeed... but the only way I'll be able to go is if I finish three college applications by then .____. so I'll get back to you later on that.

I'll ask Atomsk tomorrow if he's going, I've had JJ's dazzle sitting around for way too long :(
Yeah... Inui's tournaments always lack setups ._.

I have no idea, but if there's a decent-sized tournament nearby that you'll be attending I can hand it off to Atomsk and he can get it to you? My parents are kinda intent on keeping me away from tournaments for a while lol, but if I'm ever going to anything you'll be among the first to know.
So, since it's getting closer to the 14th, what are the chances of you showing up at Inui's tournament? :p
Yeah, I'm probably going. I was going to ask if you wanted to team, assuming you don't already have a partner(and that I break out of my smash slump from vacation in time). Low tiers I'd be going Pokemon Trainer (mostly Ivy) and regular I'd be going Wolf. Let me know when the time comes if you'd be interested, I suppose.
Well, for aerials, if they're sharp they'd probably z-drop and regrab with an aerial, but having a peanut really does limit ground game.

Hmm... Maybe I should start using the roll out of shine for those... reflect it and roll towards might be a pleasant surprise. But yeah, just holding shield is usually a (very) bad idea lol. I thought for sure the get-up attack would've worked... Is it possible to wait until he starts the boost smash and then roll away from where he's headed, or is the hitbox too large?

For MK, I tend to spam shine once they get too aggressive, the counter factor is really handy. But yeah, being above MK is definitely the worst place you could possibly be. Sadly, he also doesn't have too much difficulty bringing people up there. MK can punish really well, but playing safe and avoiding his annoying moves seems to work better for me than full out offence.
True... And yeah, wolf's dash attack sucks. Just be careful about shieldgrabbing it, sometimes it doesn't work. Peanuts are mostly used for offstage gimps, from what I know. I think I saw someone use it for recovery too, charging it up to propel them towards the stage.

Yeah, bananas>peanuts for sure, but I'm just wondering what they could be used for if the opponent was to accidentally grab them. So from now on, I'm thinking to just SH away+airdodge whenever someone tries a glide toss > grab, it sounds like the safest thing off the top of my head. What do you think?

Dude, I love Puff in 64. Don't get me started lol. So basically what you're saying is to prevent putting yourself in a bad position from the start so your opponent can't put you in a worse position, right? That makes perfect sense, but just like the don't get grabbed/hit philosophies, it's a lot easier said than done sometimes.
Lol yeah, fsmash is so punishable :( That peanut idea sounds good though, accidentally grabbing peanuts is ridiculously annoying. Have you ever had someone use the peanut effectively against you though? As in something like how toon link does z-dropped bombs to combo into a dair, would the peanut have enough stun for something like that?

Yeah, same here. It also stinks because you get used to that one person and their style, which sometimes makes it harder to adapt to people who use that character in a different way. Snake really doesn't seem as amazing to me as he does to other people though, if you can force him offstage and make him recover from below, building up damage is a relatively simple task. Otherwise, just keeping away works well enough for me.
Yeah, if you have an aerial with little landing lag that outprioritizes at least fsmash, I'd try that. Leaving it an obstacle might work against some characters, but wolf can SH fair to pick it up with ease, so that might not be the best choice against him.

I hate people who tech dthrow, but at least now I know how to deal with it :) I don't think anyone has teched behind me though, for some reason. But yeah, I know when it can be teched and all, I'm just so unaccustomed to people who actually tech it consistently. Now I'll probably auto-dsmash after every dthrow, just in case.

Nuts. I really should get a good grab button then... Thanks for the info though, I'll have to learn that.

The wolf might've been Turbo Ether, but idk if he still goes wolf in tournaments. I hate how people just bust out MK whenever they lose with someone else though. Having a good grip on SDI helps a lot against MK, or at least for me. I take it you don't get to go to tournaments often, hence the lack of MK practice?
Wow, that's a lot of text ._. Thank you for taking the time to type all of this out. I think wolf's fsmash beats out diddy's dash attack, iirc I was standing close enough to the bananas to fsmash you when you went for them towards the end.

What is the button input for the item toss again? I lack a comfortable grab button, so that might get in the way... Also, I set the d-pad to smash attacks, it's the equivalent of a C stick and I find it a lot more comfortable. I'd try a well-timed get up attack to beat dacus though, it should have invincibility at the beginning.

Never knew about the guaranteed dsmash/fsmash from a tech, thanks for that. Also, does shining the barrels give wolf control over them when they're sent flying?

I think I'm good on the recovery part, although I definitely enjoy sideB too much. I know of the shine through usmash, but I guess I just need to learn to use the shine better in general, at least against Diddy.

Thanks again for all of the tips, I'll keep them in mind. Best of luck at the tourney!
No, sadly :( Midterms next week + SATs next weekend + ACTs two weeks after that means my parents won't let me out to any tournaments anytime soon.
Hey rvkevin, since you play against Castor regularly, can you give me any advice on what I should have done differently in the wolf vs diddy matchup?
