Also I feel like mega man 1’s robot masters are more iconic but mega man 2’s robot abilities are most iconic if that makes sense

I think to an extent Mega Man 1 has more interesting level design and progression, I prefer Mega Man 2 but that's in part because it's trivialised by the metal blade, which allows you to more easily breeze through the levels. That's more satisfying viscerally, but it also undercuts a lot of the intended effect where MM1 succeeds.
This is a pretty common opinion but imo Mega Man 9 is the best in the classic series looking at strictly mainline entries, and counting non mainline stuff it's Mega Man V on the game boy, curious to see what you'll think if you get to those.
