He never grew in poverty and doesn't understand what it was like and it shows.


The hopelessness is suffocating in struggling neighborhoods and much of the criminal activity is a result of soceital failure direct or indirect. Of course some of it is just because someone wanted to do something, but a majority is born out of how soceity expects them to act, or hell, even a need to engage in criminal activity to feed their family.

Kids drop out of school to support their struggling households, its not their fault.

Not to mention the awful "clean out" belief he has, as if you can just walk into a neighborhood of crime and convince everybody "crime is bad". Yeah they know, you aren't saying anything new.

But let's say everybody collectively decided to just get a job and education.

We then have over crowded schools, a lot of families living on minimum wage, many more unemployed, and many angry young people betrayed by the system. Now what? The system failed them, what can they do? Well, they can try illegal ways to support themselves, just to survive... Oh wait, we just circled back around.

Now, as someone who has lived in and thankfully was able to exit such a situation, I'm not going to say it was all the systems fault. Stuff like racism, particulary against Asian and White people, crab mentality is there, and the way gang culture is glorified heavily is concerning.

But to solely attribute it to people just being lazy, black culture, or not having religious guidance is not only shortsighted, but a dangerous belief that many people have (Mostly people that have never lived in or around extreme poverty)
