If you're into idle games, I totally recommend the AdVenture series by Hyper Hippo. Clash Royale and Jetpack Joyride are also fun ones. Flow Free's an older one (I remember my dad having it on a very early iPod Touch), but it holds up pretty well.

Plants vs. Zombies 2. Despite what some people say, you can beat it completely without paying a cent. (PVZ1 is only really worth it if you haven't played any PvZ games in a while and have nostalgia because most of the levels are just that easy IMO.)
