I actually think this is perfectly fine- Hyrule Warriors simply did what Smash should be doing, which is taking the basic concept behind a character (or creating new ones, provided they fit (i.e. Tetra with a gun)) and expanding upon them to create a moveset that functions in the game. While Smash would most likely become rather derivative of Hyrule Warriors if it tried to make movesets for some characters like Marin or Medli, I'm confident it could create unique (even if at least a little similar) movesets for others like Tingle, Phantom Zelda, or really anyone from Age of Calamity's roster with the same exact design philosophy (just written for a Smash context and not a Warriors one).

Well that’s not 100% true, there are a fair few things in the HW movesets that are references to Zelda games and are things that make sense for the character to do in a manner kinda like smash

Well yeah, I guess I should've added that blatant references and full recreations of classic abilities and mechanics are still good parts of moveset design, as long as they flow with the game and not against it. coughMinMincough

I probably should have explained this better. What I meant was I don’t think the Smash devs would want to just copy & paste a Hyrule Warriors moveset into Smash and call it a day.
