I knew it wouldn’t happen but I really hoped Banjo would at least bring some Spirits from DKR to Smash.

Well if this image is anything to go by, it implies that Nintendo owns the DKR soundtrack. So we didn't even need Banjo for it.
Meaning they could have added the soundtrack any time they wanted, but just chose not to... a waste of an opportunity, if you'd asked me.
I'd love fighting to the theme of Ancient Lake or the Boss Race theme.
