well, for me roy works very well and my dad is very good with toon link so according to me shulk is out also, villager maybe?

why not pac-man? he's got some great long range attacks and you can use his bell and fire hydrant to set stuff up.

I would say ROB or shulk, but i'm more for shulk as you don't have as many zoners as close range
