Yes, fox can f-up your hands a bit, I'd say try to play fox first for a bit and see if your hands are alright, if not switch. If you are gonna play fox use x or y to jump, waveshining is damn near impossible to be consistent with tap jump.

I've been playing a ton of fox recently and every time i try to upthrow upair i always miss, any tips or advice on how to get more consistent with it?

I tend to dash-dance in and out and wait for the CF to make a mistake, ex : Wiffed Grab / Attack It works a bit, but try not to do it too often or else they will punish :(
