i asked a few other people about this, but my dolphin emulator has been acting weird in terms of frame advancing. Whenever i attempt to frameadvance 1 frame it does 3 frames. My frame skip is on 0 and i don't know what to do

I honestly have no idea. If you need frame advance for labbing purposes, you are better off using Melee's own frame advance. To do this run Melee with a debug menu code (community netplay settings has this), and on the debug menu turn DBLevel to Develop. Then in a game, hit start to freeze and press Z to frame advance.

If you are TASing, I cannot help you, could try downloading a different build I guess.

Hey, I didn't want to necro your thread but I was curious to know if Marth could use his Fair to AI onto Platforms n stuff seeing as he could drop cancel his Fair. Whether Marth can do so with or without hitting a dude with it would be cool to know as well. Thanks again for all the cool movement research.

No I think I just confused you lol. It's not an easy thing to explain. Drop cancels work because of the ECB update, but the move needs to be fast enough for you to be high enough when you enter hitlag. What I was saying before was that drop cancels aren't a direct effect of the aerial's ECB pattern, which AIs are.

The dair thing is the same tech as a drop cancel, but he was falling slower because he was pushed off the stage. Dropping through a platform makes you fall faster. So by the time he entered hitlag, he was still quite high up.
