I can agree with that. That was a large part of why I thought that having his attacks be fairly generic it would allow the Personas themselves to stand out in animation and through Joker naming them specifically, rather than only featuring a handful in only slightly more detail.

Gotta be Simon. He just looks so much more like a vampire hunter, conan the barbarian style. He's a unit. Richter's cool, and I love that they incorporated him into the moveset so much and I'll probably use him sometimes as well but Simon is just way cooler imo.

Well no, the main penalty is mobility, but even so you're right when it comes to MH but when translating it to smash you take a creative liberty. Unrelated: a very silly but awesome idea would be to have Monster Hunter be very very small so that all the other characters are monsters in comparison
