I used Mario a lot in the beginning but he doesn't feel anything like his Melee counterpart so I had to drop him.

Maybe you would have a better time against Falco then. My Fox sucks because pretty much everything has priority over him but I always bust him out first and gauge how well my opponent can fight. He isn't a total loss, anyway.
