Doc Advanced Tech Frame Data Megathread

Ledge Walk (didn't know what to call it) I found out the other day that if you dash to the ledge and begin your turnaround animation close enough to it, you not only turn around much more quickly than normal, but also there is a small window where if you SH or jump while still holding back...

Docs Dair, what can i do besides drill grab?

I mainly use Dair to prevent my opponent from using the platforms to escape chaingrabs. After my throw, I immediately FH to Dair and cover the platform. From here, if I get the L-cancel, I can Utilt, Dsmash, drop down to Uair, or even go for another grab. Honestly, you can get a lot of different...

    Down-tilt

D-tilt is best saved for mix ups out of CC's or something. It's pretty mediocre for the most part.

    Using Shield to Tech Chase

I've noticed, though, that when shielding to stall, you're most likely to prevent a read-based counter. Basically, its much more safe than a dash dance, especially because people don't expect an attack immediately after a shield. On top of that, people are more likely to continue an approach...

    Using Shield to Tech Chase

I discovered a nifty trick earlier today that I want to share. After I dashed into shield, I was still holding forward then SH'd OoS to bair and noticed that my momentum stuck (due to the fact that you slide a short distance when dashing into shield). Now you may be thinking, "yeah, so...

Doc's Advanced Techniques and Useful Tactics!

So I've still been grinding away, and am learning some cool new stuff that I thought was worth sharing: Up-B Cancel Out of Shield: it's not very good for combos, but this move CAN be used against the spacies (or any character really) to escape shield pressure. It's somewhat difficult to pull...

    Tap jump on or off?

haha I played 64 and melee long before pm, so I know how to u-tilt without tap jump being off, it's just that it's so important for Yoshi to use on command that I think it's safer to have tap jump off so you don't mess u-tilt up.

    Tap jump on or off?

Ok, so I usually never turn tap jump off, mainly because I use the joystick to SH > rising aerial super quickly, but with Yoshi, it almost seems more beneficial to have it off. Pros of having it off: Egg toss in air without having to buffer the up input before the jump U-tilt is ****ing...

Doc's Advanced Techniques and Useful Tactics!

What I mean is this: I use L to WD, so if I want to grab as fast as possible using a trigger+A grab, I'd have to WD (with L) then R+A grab

Doc's Advanced Techniques and Useful Tactics!

I sat there for like an hour trying to L+A grab but the only way to do it fast enough out of wavedash is to jump the trigger you didnt use for the WD immediately after WDing which is really ****ing hard...

Doc's Advanced Techniques and Useful Tactics!

By waveland recovery I'm refering to grabbing the ledge, pressing down then jump and wave landing back onto the stage. The faster you do it from when you grab the ledge, the more invincibility frames you will have. Marth can edge guard really well but if you can waveland recover back onto the...

Q&A Doc General Discussion: Ask and ye shall receive ft. otg and Shroomed!

The main thing that I noticed was your N-air approach and tendency to atk via air in general. N-air is good as a combo finisher and defensive air atk, but using it to approach as often as you do puts you in a lot of bad positions. You can't space Nair unless you land behind your opponent, which...

Doc's Advanced Techniques and Useful Tactics!

Ok, so I'm not the greatest player out there, but I do main Doc, and because of the amount of hours I have with him, I have picked up some tricks that have made my Doc unique yet effective. Here is a list of techniques/tactics that have helped me progress as a Doc player! March 14th...

What buttons do top players use for 1. shielding 2. WD 3. Aerials 4. l canceling/tech 6. jumping?

I'm no top player, but because I'm left handed, I use buttons most people don't. I WD, tech and shield with L, and jump with X. I very rarely use R. This style is different but it's a good example of doing what is most comfortable. I have no tech issues whatsoever, as far as buttons go.
