heh thats a nice way to put it tho tenma is definitely his own character and his opponent is much more than just a serial killer. the show takes place in germany and the english version is translated perfectly

i remember talking to mashad about the show awhile back and at one point he said a certain scene was "pretty much his favorite scene out of anything ever" what more do you need to know!

you must read monster. it differs from most anime/manga in that the proportions arent ridiculous and theres none of those crazy overreactions that are off putting to common viewers. pretty much every annoying stereotype about anime/manga is absent from this (no ******** schoolgirls or weird quirks to the characters). it has aspects of psychological thriller detective fiction drama and apocalyptic horror all in one

its about a doctor named tenma who is forced to go on the run and attempt to hunt down a "monster" a former patient of his that he saved and regrets. during his travels he experiences situations and encounters that causes him to question his most ingrained beliefs about human nature

there are other memorable characters like a detective hunting tenma and tenmas alcoholic ex wife who tries to undermine tenma out of revenge for their failed marriage. all the characters are ****ed up in a way which is a quality of the show that it shares with LOST. theres more but i dont wanna go too in depth

i have yet to meet anyone who hasnt liked it (even nonmanga readers. i largely hated manga when i watched this) and bros with good taste can attest to its awesomeness: mediocre/macman/virg/mashad/jungle all loved it. jungle and virg are similar to you in that i kept poking them to read/watch it and once they FINALLY did they loved it

i know its on the queue. but so are a lot of shows. monster deserves to be made a priority!

i had read number 1. it was crazy. but sometimes issue 1 is crazy and the rest sort of explains it. but issue 2 was crazier, and from what ive heard it just gets nuts and dumb.

I think you would really enjoy Samurai Champloo (anime) and Avatar: The Last Airbender (cartoon), though. they fit the bill pretty perfectly. and theyre both awesome. i think tmw_redcell can vouch for one or both.

i think at this point, bruce was back, but **** was still batman (bruce was traveling the world as batman for batman: incorporated) in gotham city. without spoilers, it is "about" **** getting a villain that is joker-tier, essentially ****'s joker or two-face.

its called "Batman: The Black Mirror" and it was published last year. You can probably find a way to download it if you just google "Detective Comics #871-881." its totally worth it.

edit: you should read it before you read the other stuff. it will give you a good taste of more modern comics, and its one of the best batman stories of all time, and its got an exceptional writer and great artists.

I'm pretty good, man. I'm finishing up my undergrad stuff and staying out of trouble, for the most part. Although I did almost get kicked out of a casino about two weeks ago for taking about 250 golf pencils off a counter and lining my coat pockets with them.
