'Eh, I'm not so sure about that. DLC is a possibility. I'm not counting on it, but they do have brand new models. That's something at least, most trophies are identical to past games. Dixie and K. Rool at least got new models, which is pretty good.
DLC is much more up in the air imo, though. It could happen, but it could be anyone. The theory that characters were being held off to hype up the Wii U release, while still very possible, took quite a hit considering any potentially true rumor involving it added Dixie, and if Dixie was planned to be available later, why have a random trophy of her in game?
I really hate to ask, but.......can I...........see Dixie's trophy? (*sniff!*)
It'd be more suspicious if they WEREN'T trophies. Then people would think they were a lock for being DLC. If they were planned but cut due to time constraints, that'd make a lot of sense. They left trophies in on purpose, but will create new trophies if they're later added as DLC.
This is the only remaining hope, but it's definitely not something I'm going to bank on. DLC down-the-line, maybe, but Wii U release characters I don't see happening. Yeah, the lack of trophies would be seen as extremely suspicious, but I find it weirder that they'd have trophies first and then become playable and have different trophies, especially since Dixie's isn't something like the Assault trophies in Brawl for the Star Fox characters.

We got Kremlings in Smash Run and the Rocket Barrel song, yet Dixie and K. Rool were just relegated to trophies all the same. Not even Assist Trophies. Trophies.

They're already doing that for Isaac, honestly. Of course, an AT is far worse than a trophy; that's a role they'd have to change through a DLC appearance. A trophy doesn't mean much, they can just create a new trophy with a different pose and its not a huge deal, but an AT can't just be removed so easily.
As I said, it's possible, but I find it less likely that they would create a unique trophy for the sole purpose of throwing people off.

I'm totally on board, at least for Dixie. However, even if we're getting more DLC past Mewtwo: that means that K. Rool is back in the running as well, and Dixie and the other Kongs still have some vets to compete with for DLC, like Lucas and Wolf. It won't be easy for them. I'm taking the same position I did pre-3DS launch. I'm going to wait and see what happens in the months going forward. But, for now, I guess business will continue as usual in this thread.
And yeah, Jungle Hijinx does look good. I was pleasantly surprised. I still have no damn idea why Gear Getaway was chosen for the Rocket Barrel Theme, though.
Plusle & Minun might happen with OmegaRuby & AlphaSapphire... not sure about Toon Zelda but The Wind Waker HD is already out so she might get in... hopefully not Toon Sheik (Tetra, yes please).
