Okay, I'm not gonna cause an argument here, but I'm just gonna say it: WHY do people want Lucina cut other than her being a clone or not as popular as Robin?

I think the main reason is that a lot of people feel like Fire Emblem is overrepresented right now, and regardless of whether or not that's true, many people feel like they need to cut someone from the franchise for the roster to make sense, and since Lucina's a 1:1 Marth clone she's usually viewed as the most expendable of the FE bunch. I hope that explains it well enough.Okay, I'm not gonna cause an argument here, but I'm just gonna say it: WHY do people want Lucina cut other than her being a clone or not as popular as Robin?
My reasoning is for making Lucina as a Marth swap is the clone reason, but I think it suits what she did in the early events of Fire Emblem Awakening. I compensated her fans by giving her special costumes as any other character I planned on in my roster. I used to think of the "over-done" excuse as valid, but that excuse doesn't seem reason well in this case. The only complete cut (& the most consistant cut between all my roster variants) I made in my latest roster variant are the Miis and that's to make room for special costumes.Okay, I'm not gonna cause an argument here, but I'm just gonna say it: WHY do people want Lucina cut other than her being a clone or not as popular as Robin?
To be quite fair though, Doc was a clone and removed in Brawl even though rumors had it he was part of the Forbidden 7 as well as being an unlockable surprising character for this game. Roy was a clone, got removed for Brawl same as Doc, and became DLC. Lucas who is a semi-clone, got cut for this game, only to came back as DLCI like Lucina and I love Dark Pit (in fact, he's my favorite newcomer in Smash 4) but I also think that Sakurai is going to remove clones, like he did between Melee and Brawl (with the exception of Mewtwo) so I decided to follow this reasoning. Also to balance the series, I cut Lucina because I think Corrin would be more interesting than a complete clone of Marth.
You're right, but if I had to remove someone, they would be Dark Pit and Lucina. Not because I hate clones, but because it's much likely to happen. Also, Lucas isn't a clone at all: he only shares two moves with Ness (up aerial and side smash) and he has three moves (PK Freeze, PK Thunder, PSI Magnet) that are a little similar to Ness'.To be quite fair though, Doc was a clone and removed in Brawl even though rumors had it he was part of the Forbidden 7 as well as being an unlockable surprising character for this game. So it's possible they could bring back clones for the DLC in the future
I wouldn't say safer, but about as safe. Unless Sakurai or whoever is in charge of the next Smash decides that a new MU should replace Robin. If there's a next Smash, for some reason I feel Lucina is even a safer choice than Robin. According to a Japanese poll, she's more popular than Robin. She's in this unique position that in her game appearance, she at first tries to disguise herself as Marth, but as time passes, she develops as a character. This translates really well into Smash if she goes from a clone to an unique character.
Her appearances in Codename S.T.E.A.M. and Project X Zone 2 are filled with so many moveset material. A bow, lances, reclassing and moves learned/inherited from Chrom (like that spinning air attack)
You might wanna reread it again: I said semi-cloneYou're right, but if I had to remove someone, they would be Dark Pit and Lucina. Not because I hate clones, but because it's much likely to happen. I'm not totally against Lucina, but, to be honest, she is the most likely character to be cut between Smash 4 and a possible Smash 5.
Sorry, I had a mistake... However, Ness and Lucas are still quite different each other. You might wanna reread it again: I said semi-clone

Did you see the thread title name? It says if YOU were in charge.- The Mii Fighters are here to stay. Why cut them in the first place?
- While still being a swordsman, Robin has the tome system, making him/her a unique character from most of the other FE reps.
- Roy will return (probably as DLC again) due to popular demand.
- The clones are not that likely to be removed. Probably Lucina and Dark Pit (maybe) but not Dr. Mario. He returned in the vanilla SSB4, and he's probably here to stay.
- You do realize Rosalina is not going anywhere, right?
- How is Jigglypuff a likely candidate to get cut exactly?
- See above.
- Yeah, no.
Honestly, the only one I agree to get cut is .
I realize this is if you were in charge, but since you're talking about a developer's perspective, why would they cut a character who's just been proven to be one of the most popular choices for this game? Especially since the connection between Nintendo and Sega is still pretty strong.- The Mii Fighters are here to stay. Why cut them in the first place?

Wherever you got that Mrs pac man image, it looks less like Mrs pac man and more like pac man in drag
You realize that Shiek plays far differently than Zelda right? Having Shiek as an alt costume isn't gonna workI'd have all the vetran's Mario, Link, Fox, Pikachu Donkey Kong, Damus return ECT. The alter egos like Dr. Mario, Shiek would be alternate costumes for their respective characters like say you want to play as Dr. Mario you go to Mario rotate through his costumes till you get to him and you play as him with his usual moveset Same with Shiek for Zelda Dark Pit for Pit ECT. I'd keep all the third party characters But I'd replace Bayonetta with Snake burn the witch, kidding Bayonetta's awesome, and even though I'd like to see her return I'd rather Snake come back. Plus I'd add Inklings and King K. Rool their the only characters I care about joining, I'd have Inkopolis and Gangplank Galleon to accompany them.
You cut Snake, Pichu, Ivysaur, Squirtle, and Young Link though. Here's my no cuts one. I may post a cuts one later.
She didn't. She just didn't bring them back. You cut Snake, Pichu, Ivysaur, Squirtle, and Young Link though.
SemanticsShe didn't. She just didn't bring them back.
I was always a fan of Birdo, though I do think her (his? lol) chances for inclusion are almost slim-to-none, though I do think as a clone of Yoshi would be a worthy inclusion; I would just give her the ability to spit eggs since she doesn't have a tongue, but then she would be a semi-clone, and there are more deserving characters from the Mario franchise or other franchises that could be used with that time.(Desire: 2/10 Not really too high on my list, but I think a clone of Yoshi would be interesting.)
I hope you got your flame suit ready. Because there's gonna be people jumping on you in 5, 4, 3...CUT:
Wii Fit Trainer
Lucina
Ike (move set given to Fierce Deity Link)
Charizard
Ivysaur
Pichu
Lucario
Toon Link
Corrin
Bayonetta
