If that's the case then it will make Shulk counter different from the other counters if you have to time it to get a better attack.

Glad to see all our support and hard-speculation payed off. I might have just been lurking here most of the time, but i'm glad that all those supporters stayed true and kept supporting, despite the arguments saying "oh he's just another anime swordsmen" early on. So everyone here deserves a pat on the back, we did it bronados! so adding him to my list of mains!

That's a cool touch- I know that people complain about so many counters, but the counter moves have always been my favorite. Shulk, Lucina, Palutena, and Greninja are all getting ones and I'm quite happy.

Probably not. The next DLC will probably be Bee Luigi, Teenage Rosalina, and Wii Fit Trainer.

So I just realized something guys. If Shulk turns out to be a decent character, I know the perfect doubles partner for him. Kirby.
Think about it. Shulk's neutral B is the monado mode change. Kirby won't get the Monado obviously, but absorb Shulk and you have a Kirby who can switch modes with varying powers. Need Kirby to be a speed type for certain match-ups? Monado switch to the speed style, need a heavier hitting Kirby (his FSmash is already ridiculously strong), Smash mode.
Shulk just may be the best transformation that Kirby ever got if it actually causes him to buff/nerf whatever he wants.

Hmm... That's interesting. Maybe it'll be a modified version of it with only one or two modes (Monado Smash and Monado Shield seem useful) if it's too complicated to program it your way, but nonetheless, it's a very interesting idea.
I'm also liking the idea of Robin and Shulk. Robin could use his spells to stall for Shulk when he needs to change, while Shulk could use a Monado Speed to distract the opponents or Monado Shield to guard Robin while the Tactician's tomes recharge.

So, Bowser, Link and Marth were having a picnic. Bowser decided to talk a walk and appreciate the view. Then Shulk attacks him for no reason at all. Link and Marth try to avenge their buddy, but they are mercilessly beaten.

I kinda think they'll just give him Backslash. Kirby *sort of* gets Olimar's side-b, too, so it seems like a safe bet.

I prefer to think that the veterans all want Smash for themselves and don't actually welcome new challengers, or as they see it, competition. Several of them have been sent to eliminate potential characters:
They recruited a psychotic Villager since he'd have no trouble murdering people.
Mario, Link, DK, and Kirby were sent to take out Megaman, but he had to rely on his powers from the Robot Masters to survive.
WFT was okay because she was training them. She gets a pass.
Samus went to take out Little Mac, but she was distracted by his height and he got the upper hand while she was laughing.
Mario, Olimar, Link, Samus, and Kirby were sent to try and stop Charizard from returning, but an intervention by Greninja saved him (Pikachu refused to pick sides).
Link, bitter about his second failure, attempted to slay the Goddess Palutena. However, he was met by Pit, who was still loyal to her, and the two of them beat him back.
Captain Falcon succeeded in punching Chrom out of the battle, but Lucina and Robin, his daughter and best friend, rushed to take his place.
Finally, Bowser was sent to take on Shulk, but after being bested, an extremely bitter Link tried to sneak attack Shulk with Marth, but they were no match for him.
I can't quite place Pac-Man or the Miis though (since their trailers were so different).

It's basically a counter. I believe that if you time it just right, you inflict more damage. So, if you use the Vision right before the enemy strikes, Shulk would do more damage than several frames before the enemy strikes.

He's so marketable with his trademark attire. He's also easier to showcase in a longer fight scene than a fist fighter like Mario.

Well, it'll only be available for the New 3DS, so you'd need one of those first. If you're planning on getting one, I say wait, since the cheapest you'll be able to find the Wii version is still pretty expensive (it's like $60-$70 used). If you're not getting a New 3DS/New 3DS XL, then buy the Wii version.

I watched the trailer live at 7 am and was sooo hyped. I didn't understand a fair amount of what went on (Like Metal Face at the end) because I watched it in Japanese. Then I understood it all when watching the English trailer later.
This is so great. Even before I finished playing through Xenoblade, I wanted Shulk in Smash. Feels great to be a big supporter of a winning character.
