This should save @Shaya some time...

Post about MLG Finals as they pertain to your impression of the game and its balance here.

Here is the 1v1 bracket (top 32 not up atm; hopefully it will be soon).

Shaya's on leave temporarily, but the thread will still be run the same way.

This thread is also inhabited by the Competitive Impressions Unit, and we take etiquette and posting standards pretty seriously here (as does the Competitive subforum in general).
A general rule of thumb is:
THOUGHTLESS BALANCE SUGGESTIONS or PERSONAL TIER LISTS (without openly justifying themselves and responding properly to questions and critique) is punishable by DEATH.

"Keep relative discussions on character strengths, weaknesses, abilities and viability to here."
I'm hoping we continue getting amazing showings for :4ryu: going into top 32, possibly even top 8 tomorrow.

I think Ryo made it into top 32 on the losers side?

I know he lost to Megafox then beat The Wall in what was a Losers Final of some kind but I don't know where that was in the pools/bracket.

IsmaR IsmaR Copy that.
Nidtendofreak Nidtendofreak Can confirm.

ZeRo 3-1 over NAKAT by doing ZeRo things (games 3 and 4 were clutch on his part). The game victory was with Pika, so it's kind of nice to see someone other than ESAM make that character look good vs. ZeRo. I'm also tempted to say Fox vs. Diddy is solidly in Fox's favor based on the flow of that match (and previous Fox > Diddy results) that could have easily gone to NAKAT.

Also, who won ESAM vs. Nick? My internet crapped out.

Nakat vs ZeRo was an awesome set today. Ever since Smashcon, I've been thinking that people have been sleeping on his Pikachu and he's only proven this more.

Trela wins 2 games in the :4ryu: ditto vs. 6WX, then loses 3 straight to his :4sonic:.

How is Ryu even supposed to approach this MU? Seems like the midrange game is decidedly in Sonic's favor if he plays reactively. And it's not like Ryu can easily catch Sonic if he wants to run away with a lead.

EDIT: Megafox is out to ScAtt and NAKAT is out to Ryo.

I don't think a lot of characters can deal with Sonic if he just runs to the opposite side of the stage and reacts to whatever you try to do.

Ike top 8? We in there?

He has to just beat Zero, or Manny. He beats Manny on a consistent basis too.

Lets hope for Manny then.

Beat him on the big stage! Make him switch to Roy and then beat his Roy as well!

...as long as Ryo doesn't sandbag and go Palutena.

ScAtt is third on Geogia's PR behind Reflex and Fatality. all three could be in top 12 tomorrow (why are they going to top 12?)

Actually, bracket says he has to beat 6WX now.

Ike with the most Sonic experience going up against a different type of Sonic than he's used to.

Well it used to be if you were at the top of the bracket, you were still in the top of the bracket in losers *like NAKAT*

Now it switched.

MLG pls

ESAM does better vs. Fox every time he plays him (the 1.1.1 patch didn't hurt either).

EDIT: Fatality beats Nick Riddle (!) to make top 12.

Despite there being no top Metaknights there, he still somehow got 13th through jband(1st major). I have no idea why M2K dropped out(3rd major in a row) he could've beaten Jband and maybe Ryo.

If Jband went 2-3 against the best Ike who has Metaknight exp via M2K while he has no Ike to practice with, i can only imagine what he'll do in the future.

Re: Scatt vs. Manny

This is what I mean when I've said that Mega Man keeps Sonic honest. You don't have to worry as much about the spin mixups when you can just stop them in their tracks.

I think it's also big that Mega Man's natural play style makes running into Hypno Punches less likely.

ScAtt is easily Best :4megaman: NA, and IMO only Nga rivals him on the world stage. I'm so happy he made top 8 with his hell of a bracket.

EDIT: More :4sonic: eh? I love 6WX but I have to root for Ryo.

Who did ScAtt beat on his way other than Megafox (arguably even MU)?

That was FAR too close.

Amazing, but MAN Ryo scared me to death. Why didn't you use Dthrow with that last grab man, you had enough rage and damage on Sonic to kill him. @_@

I was so sure Ryo had that in the bag, then he let it get waaaaaay too close, but then a Fsmash and a Usmash...

I nearly had a heart attack. Ike joins Mega Man in Top 8, both beating out a top tier Sonic. I'm proud of our "low-high at best, probably mid" mains.
