I fully agree with the guy requesting a low quality mode. Its a pain only being able to use the program on school computers.

A low quality mode, eh maybe but definitely low priority.

I find it so impossible that you need a kickass machine to run this program. I mean, my laptop is 5 years old. Friggin' FIVE. And the program runs like a charm. Thanks a lot, Xane! Hoping to get some updates soon with your progress! Keep up the good work.

I have a question. Is there a way for you to add a future update to all people to put in custom music?

I have a request...Maybe a function like the SSBB Builder's Z button, where you can keep a piece and not have to go back and select it every time.

Or, maybe I'm just dumb and I can't figure out how to do it.

Right click on a piece for consecutive placement.

I also agree with the low quality option. I then could actually get to use this thing! ^O^

WOW! This thing actually works! Great job!

May I give a few suggestions?
(1) Is it possible for you to make it so that the user can place an object that's completely transparent? I don't mean see-through, I mean an object that you can walk through as if it were in the background. This would be useful for decorating Your custom stage.

(2) Now, is it possible for you to make the objects completely transparent, visually. :) This would be useful for adding blocks behind objects that don't allow you to grab onto the edge.

(3) Can you make it so that users can place objects, blocks for example, on the grid line like you can with Spawn points?

(4) Can you make it so that users are able to zoom in even further?

(5) Can you make it so that objects can be stretched not just enlarged, for instance, if you want to make a rectangle out of a square block?

Please take these under consideration. Thanks again. :)

to CyberSpark:

As I've explained before anyways; I've spent more then enough time manually editing to know what can and can't be done, and what can be done is as follows:

1) All 'Floors', as well as the Ice Blocks, Falling Platforms, Springs and Spikes, can be made from a width/height of 0 to a width/height of 7. [Note: The conveyor belt can be as well, but height-wise will only end up about 2 blocks high max.]

2) Most/All objects can have the original height/width value given to them split so they're 1/3rd, 1/5th, or 1/7th that size. [Ex: You have a 4 height and a 1/3rd split, the block will be 1.33 in size.]

3) All 'Structures', as well as the Up-Down Platform, Side-to-Side Platform, and Ferris/Water Wheel, are not limited by the 7x7 size rule, and can be marginally bigger (Average of 20x18).

4) All blocks can be broken off the snap-to-grid function to an extent. The best that can be done is off centering an object by half a block of space on the x/y axis.

5) On a large-sized map, objects can 'overlap' the bottom and right side of the map by a max of two spaces (Minus 'junk' space, such as the bottom block of falling platforms) without causing problems.

6) A stage can be made four sizes: Small, Medium, Large, and Null. [Null is value $3, which is useless unless you want constant death.]

7) Conveyor speeds can be increased by overlapping multiple conveyors.

8) Decide if the preview picture is wide screen or full screen.

9) Pick music for the stage not normally selectable [Note: Nameless songs will just freeze if you try to hover over the stage in the Vault on Brawl.]

10) Slanted platforms are the only things that can be 'rotated' to be higher then long, and ONLY because you can do that simply by changing it to have a greater height then width.

11) 'Junk' space can be placed over the upper and left side of the stage and not cause any respawning issues.

12) 'Super-Stretched' objects can be set outside of the upper and left side of the stage to an extent without causing respawning issues.

The following are all handled by the game when it loads the stage and can not be changed without 'run-time' codes, ISO hacking, or USB Gecko, if at all.

1) A width/height beyond those specified above.

2) A depth beyond what is normally given.

3) X/Y/Z Angling of objects.

4) Respawn points.

5) Item spawn points.

6) Upside down objects.

7) Custom block/background textures.

8) Objects unsnapped to the block grid more then the above specified amount.

9) Other things I've probably overlooked.

Also to note, changing the ladder size in any way, shape, or form, is 100% impossible.

The one thing that's possible:

(4) Can you make it so that users are able to zoom in even further?

If you zoom in on large stages, the screen only goes straight to the middle and you have to zoom out to see the sides of the stage. It would be nice if we could move the camera around while it's zoomed in.

You won't find Adobe here in Nairobe.
First of all, I'd like to say that this program is simply AMAZING. Being someone who is paranoid about hacking or modding, this is great for me to make better custom stages. I just have three suggestions/questions.

1. With a future update when stretching is made possible, could you also edit the Z stretch of the object? I'm doubtful about this one, but it'd be nice to have stages with more depth than just being a straight, narrow walkway.

2. Possibly add some simply computer functions, like copying, pasting, multiple selection, etc. I've heard some people say things like this before, but it'd make this editor stand out a lot more than the Brawl one.

3. Be able to instantly download or upload stages off of an online server. It could connect to a preexisting on like the Stage Browser or IGN's, or it could use it's own. This would make it an all-in-one stage creator with amazing versatility.

So, that's all. I think I have a good idea about how Brawl reads the .bin files. I don't think #1 is possible, but the other 2 seem very plausible. Again, AMAZING program. I'm probably never going to use the in-game editor again. I can't wait to see what future updates will bring!

You can move around when zoomed in by pressing: A=Left D=Right S=Down W=Up Come on, does anyone even bother to read or try doing these type of VERY simple things before making a stupid list of questions on a forum.

What are you running on, a windows 93? >.> Your computer has to be like 20 years old (literally) to not be able to run this program. The file size is hecka small takes barely any RAM, if people are having problems running this, low quality won't help you then, check your comp for viruses or something >.>

Running the program isn't the problem, just the graphics. I can navigate to the stage builder bit but still just see the grid and block selector.

Thats what i meant, no one should have any problems using this at all. Always try re-downloading... Like i said before, if you are having problems using this, low quality most likley won't help you, because no one should be having problems with this. Graphics card? RAM?

I think this is the problem.
You know.. it even runs smoothly on my 350Mhz test-machine, but at least it's got a GeForce 4 MX 440.
I don't know how it runs on integrated GFX cards, but good lord.. who uses them anyway.

I'm having issues running this in terms of FPS. My graphics card isnt old as it handles new age games at decent settings with a nice FPS. And I know its not RAM problems.

When I boot up the program, the program acts choppy as if Its using up all of my resources, which isnt the case as my CPU Usage is no where near 100% and I'm using a dual core CPU.

It worked the first time with no issues, but when I tried using it a second time, that's when my issues started. :/

No clue why because the program runs, so I get no errors.

Is there any way to hear the music for the stages? Whenever am looking for the right song I cannot listen to any of them, which is kind of frustrating.

Nope, that would make the program roughly 1 Gigabyte, which would be a big pain to download, we're assuming you've already heard all the songs.

A Youtube hyperlink system is always a possibility.

I just checked the Stage Builder out, and.. Wow! Thank you soo much for eliminating the invisible parts that take up useful space!

That's basically it! Aside from more stage parts (which I know it's impossible to include) this issue on the invisible squares was the biggest pain when Stage building. :D

Now if there only was a way to include outside music... or another background image (I know you've been there before, so sorry to bring it up)

Major props to the creator.

Shadowtroop, I've already seen that list before, dozen times by now.

In general.. I don't have the time and motivation to work on the Stage Studio at the moment.
I'm already working on other projects, mostly Wii Homebrew related, which already consumes enough time.

If you don't mind me asking: What are you working on?

It's not discontinued nor abandoned, just temporarily put on hold since I'm already busy with other things.

Right now I'm working on a Homebrew GFX library named GRRLIB with 2 other people, you might've heard about it.
Additionally, I'm thinking about writing a small game to test things, I just don't have any ideas..

Well if this ever gets discontinued please release the source code.
How about releasing the source code anyway?

StageStudio saves Brawl, which then saves the Wii. Without StageStudio there would be no reason for a Homebrew Channel because the Wii would be dead. My logic is flawless.

Thanks for the effort you've put into this thus far. If/when you return to work on it, don't worry about implementing everything mentioned here; so far the only thing that a new version needs is a bug fix for theobject displacement.

That said, take it easy! We can wait, so long as you plan to return to it eventually.
