The Anti-PC control. THey are the biggest hypocrits like ever.
How am I being a hypocrite? How am I more hypocritical than those who are saying I'm wrong for claiming that the MESSAGE people are saying is more important than the WORDS they use? Are you saying I'm a hypocrite because sometimes I use more "PC" words based on my situation? I'm not dumb, like I said, I adjust my speech according to my situation. If you are knocking me for this... aren't you also a hypocrite? I'm sure you've said some very non-PC stuff when you were with a group of friends. That's just how we are.
I for one don't see the need to constantly be extremely formal with my speech, or to demand that to EVERYONE ELSE, which is where the problem lies. I have no problem with people who choose to speak in that manner, that is their perogative; however, if someone gets onto me for using a curse word and tell me instead to replace the s word (I would spell it out, but these forums will censor it) with crap... That is BS! If I instead said crap... my message, my REAL message, would be the EXACT SAME. All I did was chose to use a different sounds to articulate the same message...
Like using gay as an adjective to mean bad. You sould have said stupid, bad or lame. But no you decided to be a jerk.
No. You decided to call me a jerk just because of the word I used. You were VERY much aware of my actual message, yet you choose to go after me due to semantics. I pointed out that even gay people use the word gay in this manner. Gennie even backed me up on this. The fact of the matter is... you are so worried about other peoples feelings, that you are defending people from things they just aren't offended by. You are making a huge deal out of something so trivial. Then you claim that I am the one being a jerk.
People act as if being polite or considerate in any way means that you are infringing on freedom of speech.
I am considerate. I'm not a jerk. If you read what I have posted you would realize that. The thing is, someone got upset over the usage of a word. A word that is commonly used. A word that is used so often that it doesn't even have "power" behind it anymore. The fact that they made a big deal out of it in an attempt to ostracize someone for using it is a mild form of censorship. Honestly, the fact the the FCC EXISTS is against freedom of speech.
Think for a second. If I said the exact same message in different words, is my message any different? Is someone that calls you a sack of crap any better than someone calling you a sack of ****? Does someone using lighter sugar coated words filled with anger not carry the same sting as using curse words? The message is the same. I'm not a jerk for using words. If anyone is a jerk for the words they use, it's because the MESSAGE of their words.
Nobody was whining. That is until someone jumped on someone for using the word "gay." I merely called BS on them, and it's turned into a debate.
Okay Mookster. I give you official permission to say that because it is freaking hilarious to imagine.
This is my entire point. You get the humor in playfully switching to ebonics and saying something that contrasts my amazing whitness. That's the whole point in why I would say it, because it's so not typical of what people would expect, and it's obvious that I don't carry any racist connotations with it. That said, given everything you posted, isn't that against your stance on political correctness?
I know what all I just said sounded pretty heated. I wasn't trying to pick you apart like that cause I was offended, but I was just trying to further my point. Again, I'd like to point out that by saying this I do not advocate just saying whatever you want regardless of the situation. Tact is something one should have, but it shouldn't govern everything you say at every given moment either. I say that because I do realize that some people are offended by words. I do think it's lame that they are offended by the words, but not the message. People need to lighten up.
