Ok, everyone is pretty angered about our update this morning. Samus transforms into ZSS after using her Final Smash. I for one, have many questions. Does ZSS become Samus again after she gets ko'd? Does Samus stay as ZSS even if she is ko'd? Will no one ever main Samus or ZSS again?

But my biggest question is to follow.

If you can only use a certain character because of a certain item, the Smash Ball, what if that item doesn't turn off with the rest of them? This would totally crush the tourney scene in a way. If the smash ball DOES turn off, ZSS will cease to exist in some of our minds.
I don't think Sakurai would make a character's life depend solely on an item, so this is why I'm getting scared and very very curious. It DOES say on www.smashbros.com that the Smash Ball IS and item. Yes: IS. And in Super Smash Bros. , items can be turned off. But characters CAN'T be turned off. Turning off items = turning off the Smash Ball = turning off a Character (Zero Suit Samus) .

In my opinion, I wouldn't mind having Final Smashes on during tournaments if EACH player were allowed one Final Smash per match, but as I understand it, the Smash Ball only appears Once Per Match, if not at all. Correct?

So now, like many of you will be, I'm worried for the future of Brawl not to mention the tourney scene. Will the Smash Ball be turn off-able? Will ZSS cease to exist for tourney players? Will tournament go-ers have to cope with the amazing power of the FS?

Just want to say, not everyone is upset, there's a large group of us who like the idea of a Final Smash Transformation(also, see Gigabowser, who is temporary but similar in concept).

And I think suddenly deciding that an item isn't able to be turned off based on Zero Suit Samus is sort of jumping to conclusions. For all we know, playing as Zero Suit will actually be very difficult to do, she could be a massively underpowered and weak character intentionally. There's not enough to go on yet.

Dylan = drama queen. Plus, I'm going to save this quote

'I'm boycotting the game garunteed now. Wavedashing or not, that's just completly stupid. I in no way trust sakurai anymore and I hope he dies.

Items = the only way to play a certain character. You heard it from smashbros.com first folks.

Thanks for ruining my **** week sakurai. Thank you."

and when Brawl comes out, I'm going to post it when you say "GOT MY COPY WOO IT'S AWESOME!!!!" for my own satisfaction because I will find it funny -- and I will laugh.

Anyways, I lol at people who think items are the end of competitive smash as we know it. Playstyles can adapt; don't expect everything to replicate Melee with a new batch of faces.

I have yet to be dissapointed in the updates ^^

Deal with it.

I'm tired of the complainers. No matter what happens, you will buy it and you all know it.
Besides, anyone think that maybe zero suit samus can be selected like sheik is?

Christ, it's all complaining around here.

I.. uh.. kill.. nintendo.... would be so pissed off... lots of explosions.. oh man.

I hate you sakurai.
You do know they aren't designing the game specifically to be played with items turned off, right?
And it's not like Final Smashes can be thrown around like anyone's business (Although all Smash Balls on very high sounds like epic fun), each player can only do one Final Smash.

Anyone who can play Smash well would be upset, MDZ. Just because you and all you little ten year old friends play with items it doesn't mean we want to use items to use a character.
On the contrary; I don't play with items on, nor do I play with kids 7 years younger than myself. What your little mind needs to understand is that if you expect everything to be the same, then you should expect to be dissapointed. Then again, I'm not going to talk trash even though it clearly displays how good you are at the game. I guess that meanz0r I suck! Time to go QQ because somthing I don't like about the game happened :(:(:(.

I doubt that Smash balls will be mandatory since Smash Bros is a game that's all about customization. I'm pretty sure that Sakurai has thought about nearly every possibility when it comes to making sure that everyone can have the game setup in the way that most pleases them.

However, I do think that there's a way that Smash Balls can still be in the game without being too much of a "luck" item. Basically, if the location of the smash ball is already announced a good 10-15 seconds before it is actually possible to obtain it, then everyone will be able to reach it in time, thus eliminating the "smash ball landing on top of the loser's head" factor. The person who actually gets the smash ball will be able to earn it through skill by keeping everyone else away from it long enough so that he can obtain it.

Another thing that I would like that seems more unlikely would be for there to be an alternative method for activating final smashes. Basically, each character could have a "power meter" that fills up when they take or deal damage, and when it's full you're allowed to unleash your final smash. I would really prefer this method, but it feels more like wishful thinking.

anyone else also convinced that there wont be an online mode? cos i've pretty much given up hope for that (mostly because i dont trust nintendo, this has nothing to do with final smash stuff. you know we'll find a way around the final smash.)

oh and quote me: Zero Suit Samus will be unlockable through other means

Yeah, that's a great one!

If we lived anywhere near eachother (which we probably don't) I could just MM you in either melee or ssb64 and laugh at you.

Have fun mr Brawl pro.

<3 forum people. If you'll pay for your plane ticket to Canada, I'll gladly "lose" to you for 20$ :)

EDIT:

Wait, weren't you the one saying Brawl is going to suck because Fox got 'nerfed fallspeed?'

Ah well, maybe when I learn how to boast skill on forums and whatnot we'll have a chitchat. Until then, have fun /crying :p

OK two things...

1. Dylan, are you just overexagerating, or are you really not playing Brawl?

2. The Smash Balls are not "items" they aren't in the item section.

"The Final Smash is a secret skill that can be performed but once…and only after obtaining an item called the Smash Ball, which is a precious item, indeed."

why do people assume Smash Balls are not "items" just cuz it's not in the item section....
they haven't really posted the item yet... they've posted Final Smash under Smash 101 which includes the Smash Ball... but that doesn't mean it's not an item like the quote from the site says... emphasis on the "item called Smash Ball"
"The Final Smash is a secret skill that can be performed but once…and only after obtaining an item called the Smash Ball, which is a precious item, indeed."
stop assuming things

A question comes to mind. When you use your final smash, and the smash ball reappears, if you try to regrab it will you be able to or not? What I'm saying is Can you regrab the smash ball even though you already used your final to prevent your opponent from grabbing it. (and also I'm not saying if you regrab it that you will do another Final Smash. When all know you can't.)
Or if Sakuria makes it so, when you try to regrab the smash ball will you just pass right by it as if it is invisible to you so that the opponent may get a turn to use it? (that would be stupid if he did that.)

I want to hear your thoughts on this.

but heres the question. if you can start the game as ZSS a la sheik in brawl then you would you be able to change back to samus? will ZSS have her own final smash? if you can change inbetween samus and zamus then whats the point of the final smash changing her? this update raises A LOT of new questions. and i honestly think we will be getting a new update soon elaborating on all the unanswered stuff that arrived as a result of this update. another update concerning more about zamus...peace

well one possiblity is that ZSS would have her own final smash, that might have something to do with changing back into Samus... what it could be i have no idea but then again.... it does say that you can only use the Final Smash once

and the point of the final smash would be doing an uber attack along with some items to throw around to boot... and of course... the fun of doing it... mind you, the final smash is something that can only be done using the smash ball

so if items were off, then ZSS would be basically unusable unless of course there was another method like holding down a button or something like that

also keep in mind... the game is for the general consumer and as we all know... most consumers will probably not be knowledgeable about the gaming community or the competitive aspect of it
