THANKS ALOT TO WWJasonD for uploading a massive amount of vids =)

ok so! recently, i've been trying to improve my spacing / efficiency rather than my combos / pressuring. i think these vids show a noticeable difference in my playing style from the last vids that i've put up. as always, please critique my falco... i'm trying some new things and it would be nice to have the falco boards' opinion / suggestions ;D

You should post your matches vs AznLep from Winter GameFest.

Seriously...you and all the other Falco pros are disgusting with your jc shine to waveland.

I find it awkwardly difficult to critique one of Norcal's top players :dizzy:

Anyways, for counter picking SS, I really don't know what stage would give you an advantage, but I would maybe go for FD or YS (I don't know, that's just me). FD is kind of risky since he could tech chase you, but at least the platforms won't get in the way when you're comboing. I actually kind of like YS because of the low ceiling; like when he's recovering at a high percent and you have a free attack, I would go with a Dtilt instead of the Fsmash just because of the low ceiling. For the pillaring, well, there isn't really much to solve that except maybe add some shine > jc grab. I WAS going to say "add some jc shines" but I saw you do that in the other matches...Also, when he's pressuring your shield with jabs / gentlemans, I would probably just do multiple JC shines from my shield just to make him get the hell away from me.

I don't know, just my opinion. Hard to rate someone who's better than me.

I only watched some of the matches but it was really good stuff from all people. You seem to have perfectly worked out your way to improve your spacing, there's nothing I can really advice you as most of the time you did what I'd probably have done in the same situation (maybe even better than how I'd have done). At this point the only thing that comes to my mind is to camp more on poke floats and use more Utilts to prevent Fox from approaching.. yeah that stage is just gay. Also don't fall for DD + grab/something else. Oh, btw against Luigi don't use Fsmash that much (I usually only Fsmash if I can SHL airborne Luigi first). I don't get your problem about edgeguarding, just ledge hop until he's close, then use Dair/Bair to kill him (just make sure you get invincibility frames when you use Dair/Bair). FD is good for lasers but bad because of Luigi's WD game.

overall zhu sometimes your edgeguards are a little illogical and flashy sometimes, and also sometimes there are times where you don't wanna take the risk and just hit someone. of course, you're right that you want to be more efficient but you have to be willing to take some risks (like just fsmash the person instead of being complex) and yeah. you're still really good, you remind me of shiz because of how few mistakes you make, and creativity with the pressure game. but sometimes your 'pressure' can also be called recklessness and i hope you can find some holes in your aggressiveness that can be fixed by retreating.

and yes, lord is right... it's pretty awkward trying to critique a better player, haha.

I almost wasn't gonna critique cause I barely come on smashboards anymore. But you just need help with a few things.

1. Use the lasers. Your supposed to spam the lasers as a falco player. Do it Forward/Lambchops/Me style. Thats the best way to spam lasers. And if you don't know what I mean, watch Shades of Falco. It's a unique pattern that Forward made up that is pretty hard to get out of. I'm pretty sure you know of it though, cause it looked like you were trying to do that to SS last stock last match of the second set.

2. Your pillaring. Looks kinda slow for some reason. When you pillar it looks like you take your time to jump out of the shine and then dair. Do it faster, so its harder to shieldgrab.

3. Advance your pressuring game. Keep doing the same stuff to pressure him. But what I do is I'll dair their shield, waveshine once or twice(going behind them and back of them) and then try to predict where they will roll. If you wanna see that done, check this vid out.

Its done at seconds 0:36, and 2:17. I have more, but wasn't sure if you wanted it.

once again critiquing a better play heh...

anyway avoid grabs. in the SS vids you got chain grabbed so much because he saw the pillar coming.
use more grabs yourself.

other than that shiz said everything else i could think of

try and use the u tilt more it has great priority and makes it difficult for opponents to approach you also try to pivot after a aerial into a u tilt I hope it helps ^_^
