Zeldathon is a six day gaming marathon, this time raising money for the charity Direct Relief. Over the last five years it has raised over $300,000 for different charities, and this year is aiming to go even higher with a $100,000 goal. Twice a year, the group teams up to play through every single Zelda game, with tons of wacky and bizarre challenges along the way.

This year, one of those strange side events taking place is the Rest-Off, a 50 stock Jigglypuff match between Vidya_James and @ Brian_Buckley Brian_Buckley , each putting $500 on the line for the cause and guest starring @hungrybox himself as a commentator. Donating towards the Rest-Off will allow you to affect the match itself, with each donation unlocking custom equipment to give one of the players an upper hand.

The Zeldathon also got in contact with the one and only Xander Mobus, the announcer for Smash Bros 3DS and Wii U. Thanks to his help, the team has voice clips announcing the team members, the games and other fun little quips fleshing out an entire amusing soundboard for throughout the stream. The team has also teased the possibility of a song sung by him.

The Rest-Off takes place tonight, December 28th and is scheduled for 5:30PM PST / 8:30PM EST

Zeldathon itself kicked off yesterday and has so far already raised more than $13,000 towards it's goal. You can find the stream and some more info on their website.

Wait...custom equipment can be added on mid-match? That's news to me .___. How does that work, to those who have a Wii U?

I cant wait to watch this. Someone should count the number of rests from each jigglypuff.
Also, love Xander Mobus. He seems so open to doing events like these.

$100,000 is lower than $300,000, actually. You might wanna fix this part to the right number

lol They should do it in Melee. Smash 4 rests are weak...
28% in melee. Rest does 55% in smash 4. That's almost twice as powerful. Knock back is a different issue but that's just petty complaining if you think 55% is weak.

Rest's damage varies. The initial hit does 20%, but then the flower it plants racks up damage. It normally stops at around 51%, but if the opponent doesn't move, it can go well over 100%.
