I have to say something, if this gets me banned from Smashboards it was nice knowing you all.

The Smashboards podcast is not good. At all.

Like don't get me wrong, I know that a lot of people put a lot of time and effort into it. That's cool. It's nice to have a Smash-centric podcast.

But there's no flow, no synergy. A lot of the discussion feels forced. I listen to another podcast, the Top Down Perspective, and the drop in quality is frankly astounding. The members of TDP bounce off each other so well and have a sort of link between them that manages to keep the podcast interesting, something that the SWF podcast doesn't have.

I also can't stand Popi's voice.

I guess it also doesn't help that half of the commentators in any given episode are socially inept.

That's only 20-23 characters, back down to Melee size. But at least Luigi's the only clone, right?

That's actually a huge cast.

This will definitely be removed from the English version. Nintendo has censored stuff that's way less offensive/controversial, so I can only imagine this will get cut out.

This support with MaMui has horrible taste. Most definitely will get changed up in localization. But I do not think Nintendo was intending to be homophobic. Whatever the reasons, they put something incredibly strange that here in NA, it is viewed as unacceptable. Perhaps it is viewed differently in Japan (among MANY other things), hence a potential cultural gap that we might be missing. But really, drugging people ain't cool. If I were Nintendo and I were given an opportunity to rewrite this support, I would most definitely do that.

Buuuut give Nintendo credit. They actually decided to give us the ability to do same-sex marriages. Yes, it is limited, but giving people such an option already gives Nintendo some credit that they do not mind implementing such in their games, and it can be considered in future games. But no matter how much Nintendo does, people will complain. It's just the nature of people on the internet, such as that aforementioned Tumblr ranter, and will blow things waay out of proportion. If the game approached the same-sex marriage thing differently, people will still be butthurt and offended so really there's not much you can do about that. They'll find places to nitpick and complain despite already getting what they wanted before.

It doesn't matter if it is viewed differently in Japan or by Japanese culture; that doesn't change how disgusting making a lesbian character fall in love with her male rapist is.

And no, I'm not giving Nintendo any credit. Any credit for allowing same-sex marriage is by far out-weighed by this and making the only two romance-able queer characters creepy stalkers/sociopaths.

I'd much rather Nintendo portray queer people as actual, you know, people than pull this **** and say "well hey, at least you can get married."
