Zard's u tilt invisible hurtbox

I'm a Falco main and my friend is a Charizard main. An easy way to demonstrate this invisible hurtbox is for Charizard to stand below the edge of the top platform on yoshi's story and just u tilt. When I'm falco (I haven't tried this with any other character yet) I can hit him without actually touching the wings with my dsmash and d tilt. Is this a normal thing for characters to have invisible hurboxes on moves?

Charizard has annoying, disjointed, floating hitboxes in the middle of his wings. That's what you're hitting.

falco, among many other characters, can hit people below platforms very easily. falco dair and falcon dair are the best examples
