Young links taunt

Ok, we all know this is the longest taunt in the game and usually cant be pulled off without being punished.

My idea that Ive discussed with a friend is that since it takes so effing long to drink the stupid milk then perhaps it should heal you 10%. Nothing major, 10% the same damage a tilt would do to you, just as a reward for actually pulling the taunt off. Half the time you'd end up getting 40-50 % damage as a result of the taunts incredible legnth anyway, so the 10% seems reasonable. or maybe even more...

whaddya think guys??

Actually, that's a great idea. It makes his taunt worth something, considering how long it is. Everyone else taunt just seems so... Useless and short. That is of course IF Young Link is still in SSBB.

I would actually love to see that. The flame-spiking I mean.
I'm not sure about the idea, but about 8% sounds reasonable.
On the other hand, Young Link will more or less return, but not as the one in SSBM, but in the shape of Wind Waker Link. Well, he does have his grandmother's soup there ( which was ridiculously overpowered, by the way ).

Young Link shouldn't be in SSBB. Wind Hero Link (from Wind Waker) should be in, and would be simmiliar to Young Link, but wouldn't have the milk drink taunt because the milk was from OOT and never made an appearance in any other game.

Actually, to be nitpicky, the milk also appeared in Majora's Mask, Minish Cap and possibly one or two other games. Being in Minish Cap would actually kind of make it plausible for Wind Waker/Cell-shaded Link. Kind of.
As I said, Wind Waker Link still has his grandma's soup. Not really the same, but eh.

It could be kind of cool to have a fairy as a incredibly tiny full heal item. Just a little pink dot that you have to press A to grab and fully heals you. Turn offable, of course.

yeah the fairy would work as an item, obviously not as part of Y links moves. I dont think the 10% or whatever milk healing would really change how he's played anyhow because

1) Itll be once in a blue moon that you can finish that milk.
2) Ganons warlock punch is faster than that taunt
3) its a measly 10% if you got punished while doing it just a tilt attack could do that damage, and the follow up could bring it to 40-50%

haha very funny idea, or what if at Zero percent YL had the magic sword that shoots out energy like the in the old school games. this would only work at zero percent bcuz link needed full hearts to do this.

I wouldn't mind the length of the taunt being shortened either. I wouldn't mind if every taunt did a little something. Subtle things, like taking 1-2% less damage for every attack for a short time, or slightly increasing knockback for attacks given. Taunts like these could arguably add another small layer of strategy to the game

Taunts in SSB/M, contrary to other games (ex: SF3), aren't meant to be used to give you advantages or power up. If Young Link's taunt is changed to allow it to give him an advantage, the same will likely have to be done for other characters, which is totally besides the point of what SSB/M taunts are meant for.

Just don't use it at all.

Luigi is the only one with a damaging taunt, and if that isn't the best meteor in the game I don't know what is.

i'm agreeing with Jarc here....taunts aren't ment for healing and advantages.....Taunts are for the sole fact of "Taunting" aka making fun of your opponent, boasting, intimidating etc.....not to directly help you in a fight....

This also works for luigi.......because if you actually can get hit by that thing....then that's pretty much making fun of you right there

Well Young Link's taunt can be cancelled by catching his boomerang. Throw the boomerang, taunt, and then when it hits you it's cancelled. I had this idea once too, but figured it would be unfair, because it would be too easy to pull of every time you star KO someone. But yeah, if it were done, the health would have to come right before it finishes, otherwise you could cut off the time it takes by using the boomerang trick.

As it is right now, if your friend taunts you after smashing you into a wall, you want to turn in your chair and sever his face with a chainsaw. You know that long drink of saccharine milk was actually an expression of his dominance over your horrible fighting abilities. If he taunts and heals himself 8%, you just think "Oh, he healed 8%, I better do some more damage now I guess."

Two slightly different reactions.

If young link returns, he should be WW link, the perfect taunt would him do the winds requiem, with the wind waker baton, that would work IMO...

That's a good idea. Along with the new taunt and look he should also have new moves. Who knows, maybe the counters can be included in some way. I know that would be kind of cheap, but it would also be AWESOME.

Meh to the people saying its an advantage I dont think it is.. it takes so bloody long to do that more than half the time it will result in you taking way more than 10% damage, so it should be a reward to actually being able to pull it off.

Luigi has an attack taunt, so why not, eh? Meh itd be cool but its nothing that would really change anything.

It's easy to pull off a taunt when you launch someone out the top. Even a taunt as long as Young Link's or Mario's can be pulled off after launching someone out the top. You can even recover from Jiggly's rest in this time, which I believe is longer than Y. Link's taunt.

So, any kill out the top would result in a 10% heal?

I also agree with Fastinvoh. Anytime taunts have tactical advantages, they're no longer taunts, but instead moves. Dudley and Q in SF3:3s are good examples of that. You frequently "taunt" with those characters for advantage, but if a Ken player taunts, it's uber badass. Taunts should not give advantages in Brawl, in my opinion.

the healing would just be
another easter egg, but
a semi useful one

fairy idea!
what if a fairy followed either link around?
it targetted an opponent while charging the
arrow making it able to be angled upward, or any where else
...or maybe it just comes out when your chargin tha bow

and it could be hit while not targeting anthing

oo and make it talk with the infamous annoyingness the fairies have

I loved the fairies!!! Especially Navi! It would be a great addition but kinda lame since the grown up Link is none other than the Twilight Princess Link :S But if Y.Link makes a comeback it would be a great thing to include a fairy in his moves/taunt.
