The control sticks on the N64 controller. They wear out so quickly they are practically useless after playing mario kart, mario party or ssb for a few months.

Any ideas on how to increase the lifespan of the control sticks? They should make them out the same material as the wii or GC control sticks. I tried opening it up and cleaning and lubricating it, but that barely made it any better. Maybe I'll make a special chemical formula and coat it onto the control stick, which will increase the hardness of the texture so it won't wear out.

What kind of lube are you using?

(And you know what's getting worn out right? The two pieces of plastic that are on either side of the control stick's base... yeah. (or...something. I forget what exactly it looks like inside there...) So what if you wrapped those in a small piece of tape, and then lubed the tape or something? Or... put teflon on there! (not).

Otherwise.... graphite powder lube ftw? (right where the two (usually black-colored) plastic pieces contact the stick.) Otherwise, I don't know (I haven't tried that myself, by the way).

just keep buying more sticks :/

Well if you really wanted too, just find a way to sacurly attach a soft material to the inside of the analog...not sure if it would interfer with gameplay but...?

And i have the same trouble...eevry2 months i go buy a enw 64 contoller because my old ones keep losing the snap back affect (where the stick goes back to the middle everytime and is responsive)
