I've been thinking.

On another forum, not long before, it was a cool place. We just chilled out, talked, Pokemon strategies, yeah. Then Pokemon Diamond and Pearl came out. The awesome forum was almost destroyed. People just came to battle others or trade via Wi-fi, and they were extreme spammers who typed like a Frenchman who was taught English by a German whose first language was Chinese. People started to leave... and you get the point.

Do you think It'll be the same here? When Brawl comes out, someone will come here just to fight, their words will almost be illegible. They'll hate and flame and spam... that's my prediction. I certainly don't hope it happens here.

I don't think we have anything to worry about. We have pro/non-pro competitors from around the world that visit these boards and post videos of matches, arrange tourneys, etc. It's a very mature atmosphere when it comes to competing. Check out the Tournament forums.

And for the few times someone does spam such as "omg that was a lame win" or "you ****ing suck", they'll get looked down upon and the thread will probably be closed depending on the content of the message. The forums here are well regulated.

Oh it will, you can bet on it. Not as severe as say "gamefaqs" but it'll be pretty hectic. I assume smashboards will be crashed most of the time

I'm pretty sure that there will be at least one "ZOMG IM UNBEATABLE SOME ONE FACE ME IM 289-0 COME ON NOOBS FACE ME!!!" topic, but that's because the "Hey, I'm looking for a match" topic title was taken.

It may happen, but we have some good mods to keep things under control and make examples out people if they have to.

Well I'm ahead of the game and trying to establish some street cred 'round these streets before Brawl comes out and everyone goes online crazy. (I definitely want to get in on the action though.)

But you're right, I'm sure there will be an influx of people who aren't exactly looking for discussions, but are looking to set some leet battle records. Everyone will have to work twice as hard to retain the peace.
