There as been delays in the other Smash bros games so it's not totally unexpected, but obviously I would have like to play the game in August. At the same time, rushing the game is the worst thing they could have done and Sakurai know better than that.

I fear that Smash 4 will indeed pull a "Brawl" and we can expect the actual release date to most likely be in March. I was thinking August for Smash3DS but its official release is the 3rd of October so It could be safe to assume Smash 4 for the Wii U will release sometime in late February/ early March, unless of course both the 3DS and Wii U are near similar levels of completion.

I'm just happy that the European release date is the same as the American one, I'd hate having to wait half a year more than you guys again like with Brawl.

With this I guess it's safe to say that the Wii U version will also be at the very latest.

Japanese site says September 13! That's my birthday! But I guess thats just for Japan. Can't believe they're getting it a MONTH earlier...ugh there will be no time for smash when I gotta start taking classes and a full time job. Was hoping to play it a bit before I have to grow up.

hey let them take their time on this game. If you gotta delay it, delay it. Make it as awesome as it can be. A lot of games are released and broken and need to be patched. I would never want to see this with a nintendo game. Smash on the go is always an interesting proposition even with the wii u game close by

Negative. The Wii U is relying on smash 4 to rocket sales for the holidays. If it means cutting a character to make it in time they will.

It's only 11 days after the end of summer, and less than 3 weeks from when it is released in Japan (which is during the summer). Honestly it's pretty much exactly what I was expecting for a release.
What is pleasantly surprising is the Holiday release for the Wii U version. If they can hold on to that it's quite soon.
