I still have my Xbox 360 from about 2 years ago and works perfectly fine other than some overheats that occur.

After some research I found that the Nyko Intercooler does not help at all, and that one very effective way to prevent overheating is to use a laptop fan under a horizontal Xbox 360.

Anyone have any suggestions? Right now, I'm putting my luck on the laptop fan, but I just want some other opinons.

Make sure that your 360 is well ventilated. Nothing should block the fan and it should not be dusty where you put your 360. I would not recommend those third party peripherals such as the Intercooler which you mentioned because they only make the problem worse.

I heard the newer intercooler is a lot better, now that it has a metal attachment for the power brick.

NOTHING beats modding it for cooling though.

Mod list:
Changed fans
Changed Thermal Paste
New ducting
New Heatsink Mounting Method
Cut rear metal shroud to improve airflow

Never had a problem for a year of heavy use.

But what if you get the RROD? Your warranty is gone because you modded your 360. And I would never use third-party peripherals no matter how many people claim how good they are.

Maybe he means modding the intercooler itself. I've seen pictures of it on xbox.com xD

dosen't mess up the 360 and runs on its own power and not the 360's

Lol I fixed my problem as well. I got my biga$$ fan and placed it on the side, and angled it so the air from the fan goes from the side to the back.

I left Halo on all night and no RROD
