Google says yes, but also says you need a wireless receiver for the controller

I don't know about wireless 360 controllers -- I'd imagine that MBreeto is right, and that you need an adapter of some sort first -- but I have a GameStop-brand 360 controller which works perfectly on my computer. I would imagine that, if that one works, all of them do.

I also just thought of this, but come to think of it if you have a rechargeable battery pack and plug-in for wireless 360 controllers, you may be able to plug that into your computer and get it to work. I haven't tested it yet, so I don't know for sure, but I'll test it and get back to you.

That's a pretty interesting idea. I think I'm going to try it out. I've completely given up on wireless controllers. It's too much of a hassle to have to buy/change the batteries.

And yea, you need a receiver of some sorts for the wireless controller. I think it is specifically made for windows, but I'm not 100% sure

It was an interesting idea, and while my computer sensed it and found and installed hardware for it, it's not working with my computer...I don't know if it's what I'm testing it with or if it's just not working in general. Theoretically I think this means I could use my PC to charge my controller, but it's not doing anything else.

Well its probably like the ps3 controllers you need programs. For my ps3 controller I have to use 2 programs SIXAXXIS and LIBUSA

Maybe, I use a mac and it needed a plugin of sorts before it would get the controller to work, even though it recognized it.

@Firus - I assume you have some sort of plugin or application that configures 360 controllers? If not, then maybe that's the issue. Although, it is interesting that it recognizes the controller but it doesn't work. At least it charges it :p

No, I don't have one, so that could be why.

On the other hand, my wired one worked right off the bat, so I'm not really sure. It's not really important to me since I have a wired controller, just throwing out guesses to help Envec. The wired controllers are probably cheaper anyways, though, so that's likely a better option -- you shouldn't have to buy anything extra to use it.

Ah yes, the charge cable is apparently JUST a charger. When it connects with the 360 for use, it's via the normal, wireless method. I guess that would explain it.

i use the actual xbox 360 controller not an offbrand one and it works right off the bat as well no drivers or soft ware nothin. as for the wireless ones. they sell the reciever in the stores for about $25 and it makes all of the xbox 360s wireless accesories work on the PC, controllers, headsets etc etc. and for the chatpad that u can get for it...it doesnt work on the PC they never made any drivers or way for the PC to even acknowledge it exists. im sure theyre working on it tho. i hope that helped some. also if u want to use the controller for other games and the game doesnt accept ur control theres a really good button mapping program called pinnacle game profiler. u can turn ur controllers(ps, xbox, nintendo, etc.) into a mouse as well. pretty neat if ur real lazy and play games all day in ur recliner. i can alt tab and do everything w/o getting up xD
