AHhhh, I already feel the hate about to begin! For a disclaimer though, No, I have not played the games, No, I’m not a big fan, and No, I’m not saying I think she will be in.

Just if she was, she could add some wacky/quirky/strange moves and fun to brawl. Not to mention, she’s one of the 3 ½ girls ever to be in a video game, and she’d sure add to the ideals of “expanding” the game market. I, and correct me if I’m wrong, think she’s a third party character that has only ever been on a Nintendo system. She’s been in one game on the DS, and is set to appear in a game for the Wii. You can’t tell me the developer wouldn’t love her addition, because it’d boost the sales of an already well selling game.

Moveset! Ok, here’s a moveset I created, and again I’ll state that I’ve never played the game, so these moves might not be as good as a moveset made by someone who has.
--------------------------------------
B - SliceAndDice - Mama chops random meat/veggies and the food flies out knocking people in the head, sort of like the gameNwatch sausages, only not so randomly thrown around.

BSmash - PANNED - Mama flares the style and bashes you in the head with a sizzler

BUp - Mamadive! - A daring dive with tray to feed you with death, maybe several items could fall off her tray hitting people.

BDown - DishWasher - If she performs this move on an enemy, the victum floats away in a bubble, and Mama gains a little health!

Special - Oven Drop. Yes. Just how it sounds, ovens fall from the sly and clobber everyone. OVENS.

as if you need to know what an oven looks like

So, what do you think?

Lol @ the oven drop, this thread is somewhat amusing. I don't see cooking mama making it to brawl ever but maybe it would make a good trophy for something you could unlock with Kirby seeing how he uses cooking as his smash token attack.

wow, cooking ma ma and ness do look similar. Only I don't think she'd be floaty. I don't know, never trust a skinny chef.

She is 3RD-Party. Why not have the chef from "Shaberu! DS Oryouri Navi" (perhaps called "DS Cooking" in English)?

If your not a fan, haven't played her games, and don't believe that she'll make the cut for brawl, why make a topic about her?

Cooking Mama? I don't know if she's Brawl material.......dunno......I'm at a loss of words.
Really, Shadenexus18 here speaks for us all on this one. (no offense)

because, well, She'd be pretty awesome in Brawl. I've never played Metal Gear, Fire Emblem, or Game&watch galleries, but I'm still glad to have the extra chars. I was trying to think of more women that could be added to Brawl also. She'd definitely fit the bill.

none taken, but why wouldn't she be brawl material? I mean, Smash Bros is less about being a serious blood bath like Mortal Kombat, and more about wacky fighters from all over the map. How many other fighting games have a turnip attack?

The turnip attack for Peach was originated in Super Mario Bros 2 on the NES, and on the re-make of the game, Super Mario Bros 2 , also called Super Mario All-Stars, for the SNES. I don't like SMB2 that much, because it was too hard.

And for whacky characters.....

I haven't seen another game in my lifetime so far, that has whacky characters. But please, define what "whacky" means to you, because we might have different viewpoints on the term "whacky".

Yeah, that would be cool! If she wasn't a playable character, then maybe, if they made a "special" level based off of her, then that would be it! Nice idea! I like it!

ok, it's been a long time since I made this thread, I want to see if anyone new might have something to say, so I'm kind of bumping this....

But to be on topic, a new Cooking Mama game is headed to both DS and Wii. I think she's pretty much a crazy idea, but is 3rd party yet so far a Wii exclusive. They make tons of money off her, and I'd bet they'd let her in in a flash. But would nintendo ever think of her?

who knows?

Haha, I'm actually surprised I'm saying this.
But why not?
She actually would be cool.

cooking mama would be the worlds greatest addition to brawl. seriously, cooking mama is too awesome for words. so what if she's unlikely!!!!!?????? its COOKING MAMA, dammit!!!!! you dont say no to a chef with an extremely loose grip on the english language!

*sigh* it seems like all the cool characters are the unlikely ones ;A;

I think you stole this idea from me. I suggested Cooking Mama in the WTF character thread. Anyway, Cooking Mama would be a great character, but her chances are significantly decreased due to the fact that she's third party. It seems like there are too many other third party characters they would want to use instead of her. Still, she would probably have to be the best wtf character I could think of.

I would rather see a different third-party character (and relegate "WTF character" to someone like the Sheriff from that old arcade game), but I admit that a chef of DEATH would be kind of cool to play as. Still, it's unlikely.

I don't know what to say, but this is an awesome idea. Such an obscure character, yet such an awesome and feesable idea. I'm gonna get flamed, but I actually don't want Sonic or Mega Man in Brawl, it wouldn't feel right, so Cooking Mama is the best 3rd party character for me.

Haha, awesome. So I'm not the only one who thought of Cooking Mama...

Realistically, she's not that likely to get in, but what a great idea nonetheless. And although "relatively obscure third-party character" is a big minus when it comes to her chances, there are lots of little plusses:

Even though she's third-party, the character herself is Nintendo-exclusive. She has such a strong association with the DS and Wii that I was actually a little surprised to discover her third-party status. The Cooking Mama games are often the ones people will point to when they're describing some of the unusual stuff you can do on the newer Nintendo systems, and I'm sure Nintendo are aware of this.

While most people are arguing that the third-party characters included will probably be very high profile ones, I don't think we can predict much, given that only one has been announced. While Sakurai may have gone for big franchises that will pull in the crowds, he may equally just be going for characters he likes. In addition, if he's planning to keep the remaining third-party characters a secret until release (which isn't clear, although they are likely to be unlockable), then I don't think they'll be ultra-popular choices like Sonic or Megaman. If Sonic's in the game, Nintendo will surely announce it ahead of release for the sales boost it would generate. On the other hand, there aren't many people who would opt to buy Brawl purely on the basis that Mama from Cooking Mama is in it, so Sakurai would be able to keep her a secret if he wished.

Someone mentioned further up that she'd be a great Mr Game & Watch-style character. I agree (although I both hope and believe that G&W will be returning). She would make a great final hidden character: a complete surprise just as G&W was. I've previously maintained that third-party characters most likely won't be the final unlockables, as Nintendo may want to keep that honour for one of their own. But Mama is very much a Nintendo character despite her third-party roots, so I could see it being her.

Picture this: It's the final, super-secret boss fight of Subspace Emissary. The Ancient Minister and his minions lie defeated... but suddenly, eerie laughter fills the air. So... he was just a puppet after all. A silhouetted figure steps into view, eyes burning like fire.
"You've made quite a mess here," she says darkly. "But don't worry... Mama will fix it."

Imagine, if you KO'ed her, she would say:

"Wonderful! Better than Mama!"

She's worth a spot in the game just for that.
