I'm sure many of us here have played a First-Person Shooter recently.
Whether it be Call of Duty, or Halo... Or Quake, it doesn't matter!
If there's anything I've noticed in these FPS games, it's that they have something I think Smash should have.
Objective-Based Game Types
Think about it! One of the reasons why I like Halo so much is not because of it's FPS-ness, but because of how varied its game engine can truly be.
For instance, there's one game type that is prevalent among all shooting games. Capture the Flag.
We don't always want to play it the same way again and again. Maybe we can try new ways to play our beloved Smash Bros.
And I think objective based game types could bring a different kind of competition, one where the goal isn't to knock out other players (for the most part).
I can imagine a Capture the Flag in Smash Bros. I can imagine a King of the Hill in Smash Bros. Heck, in the Melee booklet, King of the Hill was a suggested custom game the players can make for themselves! Why not make it official?
Would you be interested in seeing a new variety of modes for Smash that AREN'T the "Special" modes? If so, which ones would you want to see?
