Would a Wii U Gamecube Controller work with a Gamecube?

I'm an American in Austria and I don't have any smash supplies with me so I'm going to go get a new controller, but because I don't know German I can't tell if this controller marketed as a Wii U Gamecube Controller can connect to a Gamecube. I know it's a dumb question, but I haven't had much experience with the Wii U so I don't know if it's a differently shaped controller port or what.

PS I didn't know where to post this so general discussion seemed best.

PSS If anybody out there reading this is in Vienna, hit me up, I wanna meet some Euro smashers =P

No. That plugs into a wii remote. It's an imitation.
