FYE has a notorious rep in Gaming circles because A) being run by idiots, B) using bait-and-switch tactic and C) getting games late.

Well, my preorder is to there. I didn't preorder it there, others did and gave it to me as a gift. My stupid conscience wouldn't let me say no. Stupid conscience.

But anyway, do you A) think I'm screwed at getting Brawl from FYE and B) think I'll have any chance whatsoever of getting Brawl elsewhere.

I'm worried that, if FYE doesn't have it in, I'll be unable to find it anywhere else. It's probably just mindless worry, but AHHHHHH, I'm worried.

Well, looks like your getting Brawl from FYE. I've never heard of 'em but the way you describe them scares me. :(
They are part of a pretty big franchise of music/ movie retailers that include Suncoast

Well, if you have a preorder, and they get the game in stock, legally they have to sell it to you... eventually. when they sell it depends on when the preorder was made in relation to other preorders. I didn't preorder because there's a crapload of stores that sell games in my area, so I don't think I'll have trouble finding the game.

With the preorder, it all depends on when they get it in stock.
Elsewhere, it all depends on how popular Brawl is in your area and the number of game selling stores.

Reserve at a Gamestop or somewhere else. If FYE doesn't have it Day 1, go to the other store. :D

My local FYE has about 10 horrible wii games in the back corner of the store. They have very limited games in general, but nothing for the wii. I think it is more of a music store than it is a game store

Same here, and yeah it is. I think you'll have a chance, but this time, go to a store specializing specifically in Games..

I've gotten almost all my preorders from FYE, and never had any bad experiences...they had my AW:DR, MP3, Galaxy, Pokemon Diamond, etc. preorders in store, day one. I prefer FYE over GameStop personally, mainly because I find GameStop more insulting as a corporation.

You'll be fine preordering from FYE, they don't get as many games as GameStop and co, but it balances out because most people preorder elsewhere, thinking 'well this store specialises in games so THEY MUST HAVE MORE'. They've always managed to fill the quota of preorders for major releases around here, and I'm sure your local chain is equally reliable.

As for horrorstories...the only major complaints against them I've heard had to do with forcing customers to buy Wii bundles at launch, the knowledge and attitude of the employees will naturally vary from location to location but at least they aren't pushing merchandise on you every few seconds to protect their jobs. What have you heard specifically?

Anyways, you're worried for no reason, Nintendo doesn't say "THIS IS NOT A MAJOR CHAIN" and ship less games as a result, they ship to meet the number of preorders with a set number of extra copies to select locations if there is a surplus of discs, explaining why it was so hard to get Wiis when they were first released- so many people preordered that there weren't any others in circulation. You have a preorder, so you're going to be the one -laughing- at everyone else who doesn't. If it makes you feel any better, I'm going to FYE tommorow to see if they have Brawl in store, maybe talking my way into getting the game early. I'll let you know what happens.
