Hello there!

With the Smash scene growing and many more new players still to come, I though I would make a little guide highlighting each characters strengths and specialties, to help anyone take their first step into competitive Smash, or for anyone contemplating picking up another to their personal roster!

The main dilemma I have is I don't main EVERYONE in P:M, nor am I a self-proclaimed Smash genius. So, I thought I'd ask you guys, the experts to your respective mains! If you could help me out by filling out a few lines of info for me, I'll be collecting the data and responses during the week and compiling them. Once it's all collected, I'll release the guide (somewhere on the boards, not sure yet...). So if you could take a few minutes to help, I would really appreciate it!

Pros: Strengths and advantages of this character!

Cons: Weaknesses and disadvantages!

Character Specifics to Learn: Techniques exclusive to only this character (example: Squirtle's shell abilities)

Similar To: Characters that play similar to this one or have a similar strategy.

Secondaries that Compliment: A secondary character that covers certain weaknesses the main has.

(Optional) Best video example of this character in action.

Cheers!

(Sorry if you see this thread posted in multiple character forums, I find the best way to gather info is to ask directly!)

Pros:
4 framedown smash
One of the best projectiles in the game.
Great recovery
Chain grabs on half the cast or more
Nair hits on frame 3 and auto cancels on frame 4.
Decent amount of disjointed moves
His combos work well against most characters in the game.
He can cover many recoveries with nair, bair or his side b.
He has no bad stages.
He is easy to learn and pick up.
Has reliable kill sets up like dthrow to fair, dtilt to fair, jab to dsmash etc
Not easy to gimp and had a good amount of mixup options on his recovery
His up B has a good auto snap range.
Down air is very good, the longer it spins, the better it is and it can help you when you wanna come down from the air.
Fireball hit confirms into grabs and kill moves.

Cons:
His range is decent at best(farthest move is a pivot fsmash).
He has trouble against characters with more range.
He has even more trouble against people who not only have more range, but people/characters who can reliably take out his fireballs, forcing mario to approach. Which, when mario is outraged, this is less than desirable.
He isn't that amazing against characters with swords(disjoints).
While his recovery is good, a good bair from a m2 or Marth will end your stock, if you expend your resources early.
A lot of the tough melee matchups are still rather rough.

Character Specifics to Learn:
Up b wall jump
B reverse fireball
B reverse up b
B reverse side b
Short hop bair-waveland
How to mash to get the full down b
How and when to use side b
Full hop fireball waveland
Full hope fireball aerial

Similar To:

Secondaries that Compliment: Meta knight, Marth or Mewtwo

That's a good summary. I've also learned that replacing dash attack with wavedash -> forward tilt is a much safer option in some situations.
