That's it really. I will because I have the Melee and Brawn ones and I'd like to have the SSB4 one too to add to the set.

Pft, why not?

Edit: I'll be something really nice and would keep my hype going. Afterall, it's the first game I pre-ordered @ Smash Bros. for Wii U and it's already feeling special to me.

Why do that when there's the internet. Unless it's like a collectors edition guide like the SM3DWorld one.

I haven't gotten a guide in, like, ten years. The internet has completely nullified their purpose. In fact, the ones that I have are just taking up space and I'm thinking of just throwing them out. lol

Probably. I might as well name it as one of the things people can get me for Christmas. :p

Yes. But I don't think I will pick it up right away, I'll probably wait a couple months.

Ah I used to love buying game guides, I kind of fell off from gaming for a long time though after the GC. I'll probably pick this one up if I can find out where it's being sold.

As a person who doesn't follow guides anymore because I like figuring out stuff myself, it would make even less sense considering I using the internet to look up what's in the game. Not to mention I would probably get a better understanding of how things work on a smash wiki.

No I doubt it I usually like to try unlock everything myself, and I just look up anything I need help with.

Understandable from a collector's viewpoint, but I don't really need it. The Internet has pretty much save me money and paper from buying guides.

They're usually written by a small handful of folks who have a limited time with the game, so there's no way their information would be as thorough or useful as, say, a collaborative guide made by dozens or even hundreds of players.

So, they better have something cool in there like a free poster if they want a lot of purchases.

Nope. I just about never purchase game guides. Why would I need to when I have YouTube and the internet?

No thanks, the Guide for Brawl rates Ganondorf as Top Tier and I don't want to buy another ****ty game guide from Nintendo

Look at the post above.
You've just been :4greninja:'d! (I think  )
But seriously, what is the point of a game guide anyway when Sakurai puts most of the stuff in the guide on the site? Just for collectors?

Or hardcore Ganondorf fans who think Ganondorf is top tier. Seriously an 8/10 for Brawl Ganondorf? Totally worth $20

I just like looking through them and reading them, even if it's nothing that helps out it's just something I like personally.

Nope I personally think they are a complete waste of money. I can just wait for information on the internet if I need it.

Yes, I like having guides on characters that I can read while still being away from the computer.

I have a far better source for strategy and info.
This source is called Smashboards.

I used to buy Guides, not because of the helpful tips etc but because they usually came with a kickass poster. I'd like to have a poster of Smash Bros for my new place for sure.

People still do this?

I could see it if I collected them, but I don't, so I'll use the internet for all that.

I wanna get the guide just to laugh at it.

I did that with Brawl and it didn't disappoint.

Ganondorf and Link are tied for the 2nd best characters while Snake and The Ice Climbers suck=???

Okay pal!!! :rotfl:

Edit: I never owned the Melee or 64 guides, but I saw those, and holy crap, they were just as bad.

The 64 guide I saw once had Link and Luigi (2 of the bottom 3) as top dogs and Pikachu and Jigglypuff as bottom feeders.

The Melee guide a friend of mine has said Link and Roy are great while Marth and Falco are weak.

Trust me! If you get them for laughs and giggles, they're great. It's like endless comedy.

It's almost as if you're implying that Roy is not absolute top tier

Guides are definitely looking at far different cats than competitive scene though, also

Usually it's the "hey, this button sometimes is shield and sometimes is roll" crowd!

(but really, if you're not competitive, it's best not to rank them, other than who is the best/easiest for newer players)

Was pikachu number 1? Then this is believable from a casual standpoint

Yeah, but it's great to come back to it every few months just to laugh at like I've done with my Brawl "guide", lol!!! :rotfl:

In 64 Pikachu was either last or 2nd last.

That's nowhere close to true even in a casual setting (except for "I suck at this recovery). Pikachu can cancel combos, has the 2nd best projectiles, the best combos, some of the strongest attacks in all its' attacks, and has ridiculous priority.

It was always evident to me even back in 1999 that Pikachu was made for "advanced players", but could be good with just simple movements and attacks at a lower level of play.

I haven't gone out and bought a game guide since the N64 days. That was back when you either needed them or your friends to figure out stuff. I've largely just used Gamefaqs since probably 2002 or so. The only ways they could motivate me to buy one is to have it be as nice as Hyrule Historia and include never-before-seen concept art.
