Will you go online to find out how characters are unlocked?

Are you going to try and figure out how to unlock things for yourselves, or are you going to find out online? I'm going to try and do it myself. Also, how will we know when all characters/things are unlocked?

once brawl is released in Japan i will stop visiting online Smash sites, including the Dojo. i want to try and unlock as much as i can by myself first.

In Melee, you got a message telling you that you've unlocked all the characters, so that should carry over to Brawl as well. However, when it comes to things like Sound Tests and stuff like that, either you cop out and look it up online or you try and complete everything the game has to offer in their entirety.

My only exception for looking stuff up online would be after you've played the game long enough to have exhausted all possible options (that you're able to perceive, at least) and aren't accomplishing anything by doing what you've been doing in the game.

With all that said, I'll be playing the game all the way through w/o online assistance until I've unlocked all characters, events (if they're still in), and completed all modes with all characters.

I want to get all the characters ASAP, but be the one to do so. So I'll definitely be using the two weeks that Japan has on the United States to my informational advantage.

I'd like to say that I'll unlock them myself, but I gotta be honest: I'm gonna go online first thing and see how to unlock them. The fun part about the game for me is getting all of the characters ASAP and pitting them against each other in battle. I know that if I don't check I'll be squandering my time away going on wild goose chases for hypothesized characters.

However, maybe I'll complete SE before I do so. Who knows.

I don't understand the waiting attitude, you'd rather obscure knowledge from yourself? For what reason? SSBB is not an epic story filled with spoilers on certian pages. Its a game filled with obstacles that are preventing you from playing in certian ways. I'm going to be madly checking the boards once the Japanese game is released to collect ways to unlock things.
Its not like "beat all subspace stages on hard" really spoils anything.

I will refrain 2 weeks from the internet untill Brawl comes out, and then just play it through myself.
If I notice I could get more out of it but just don't DISCOVER it, I'll use game sites.

But I'll probably have the Japanese Brawl first, I have a modded Wii.
Only multiplayer matches for 2 weeks, yes. I don't want to spoil the WHOLE game in one time.

Technically Bill Gates didn't invent the computer.

A friend of his did, and then he basically scammed his "partner" out of the business, so Microsoft became "solely"(I use that term loosely, in quotes) his.

Of course I want them all as soon as possible. Nothing is worse than getting used to a character , then unlocking someone who you want to main. With any luck, someone will be nice and upload a save file with everything on it so I won't have to go through the drudgery of single player.

Does anyone know if save files are region locked?

I'll go without help as long as I feel I'm actually making progress. Once I stop getting new stuff in a reasonable amount of time (like, say, going a whole day without getting anything) then I'll venture online to pick up the ones I might be missing.

It'd certainly be nice to get everyone on my own, but there's a pretty good chance I'll miss something. I like finding it myself, but not if its going to take me 2 months to get them :o

In melee if I remember correctly, there were more unlockable characters than there were "?" slots at the start.

If the same is for brawl, you may not even know wether youve unlocked em all or not.

including here b/c i know people will post vids and gamplay vids and secrets that i don't want to know until i play the game

Dojo doesn't reveal every thing so i will keep visiting that if i want to
