Basically asking if yall think a person on a 3DS will be able to play a person on the wii U but through wifi, not directly connecting to each other.

This is pretty much the deal if i'll buy it for the 3DS or not

I dont think so. Due to the different stages decision. Also it would be hard to balance this. I thought the cell shaded graphics were for meking the movements more fluid and able to be as fast as the WiiU version. But Masahiro said it was to recognice better the characters in the screen. I don´t think I can play WiiU vs 3DS but it would be absolutely awesome!

Maybe not multiplayer online... Maybe just the option to use the 3DS as a controller for the WiiU version. Sharing the CPU processes between consoles. Leaving less struggles to the 3DS processor. I mean, the 3DS only as a controller, not more.

Different stages won't be too bad if the core stages are shared (i saw battlefield on both 3DS and wii u)

Using as a controller i saw as pausible and useful for 3DS players. But having who you can play be limited by your console is such a bad thing :/ especially since both are owned by the same company.

The Wii U version will have more players then the 3DS version so it's better off not to really matter.

Sakurai said that the wii u and 3DS will have the same characters. Just stages for 3ds will tend to be from the handheld games and wii u will have stages from the console games. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQD1yJinzeQ#aid=P-_6kKFPkbY

Still hoping that majority of the good stages will be on both versions of smash.
Sorry to be slightly off topic, but "the total number of characters is the same as the wii U version". Not "The characters themselves" are the same as the Wii U version.
There could be roster differences still.

Meaning that there might be some aspects of the game that at least won't guarantee linking between the WiiU and nd3s...

well.. looks like we've been set up to have a Wii U vs 3DS flame war. As if Melee vs Brawl vs 4 wasn't enough. Making 4 split into Wii U and 3DS :|

No unity in smash </3

No, the two games are going to have different gameplay, probably different physics, and unique stages (hopefully that you can link up the two and exchange with each other).

I doubt it, but don't worry your pretty little head, I'm sure there'll be plenty of people to play with on either system, and I'd imagine they've improved their connectivity since Brawl's attrocious online play

I'm predicting that Smash 4's online play is going to be a heck of a lot smoother, particularly on the 3DS. Also, I agree with what you said about there will be plenty of people using both. I think the only thing that is going to make Smash 4 different from the other games is the break. down of moves in the game (frame data and lag) and like Johnknight1 said, different physics.

I'm personally investing in the 3DS so I can take it to my friends house without lugging the console around if I have to. Portability.

I'm curious about Smash 3DS online options in its own right, but I don't think the 3DS version could play with a Wii U version due to both of them having their own unique stages.

So, the only connectivity between the Wii U and 3ds will be the 3ds transfering customized characters to play on the Wii U. Would wish they could add a special mode for the Wii U and 3DS where they could play against eachother on battlefield with no items, or something that both of them will have. doubt it though :glare:
