Will Pokemon OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire have any references in Smash?

NONE OF US WERE CONSIDERING SCEPTILE TILL NOW
wut? "all but confirmed"..... I don't think we can say that about any character except maybe Palutena. Honestly though Sceptile would be the best character in the game hands down.
But that's not true at all. After Charizard & Greninja's confirmations, a lot of people on the boards were saying that there's sure to be a Grass-type starter playable as well. Assuming that Squirtle and Ivysaur are cut (*eye twitch*), Sceptile's the most likely, many people saying so even before the announcement of remakes. Look at the Sceptile thread on the character discussion, there were people there, it increased after the Direct, and now it's reinvigorated again.

Yea I did see people saying that when Greninja was confirmed. I still don't think that he'll be in though. But man... he is the best Pokemon.

It would be hilarious if Ivysaur was confirmed to return instead.

I feel as though Music might be referenced in Smash. Gen 3 had some good music, it wouldn't be that hard to integrate into the Wii U version at the very least.

Don't toy with my heart. It wouldn't be anything short of glorious if Ivysaur was coming back.

I'm not expecting any special representation for the remakes. I'm sure there will be Trophies/Stickers/Pokeball Pokemon of some of the third gen Pokemon, but if any gen gets extra weight, it will be X/Y. I think we can already see that with the stages being from X/Y. Even if the game were beating Smash out, I wouldn't expect to much more since they'd want to promote newer games more than remakes, I would think.

I am mostly expecting remixes of songs from the Hoenn games, but trophies relating to OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire don't seem too farfetched.

I would like gen 3 music but ah.. the trumpet was too annoying (not that I don't like it, it's just overused). What music I liked are actually those who had less trumpet perfect balance.

To the music ... i like to put my own music in the game as i do it now for brawl. Too bad i can't do this anymore in ssb4 :(
btt i'm not sure because ssb4 3ds will be released in summer and i don't think there will be too much difference between
wii u and 3ds version (except they make something like dlc's which would be very nice o_o)

I fell in love with the idea of getting Fire / Water / Grass starters from various games and I know we won't get Serperior or Meganuim. So here's to hoping Sceptile weeds out the competition.

I doubt that the Ruby and Sapphire remakes will get much attention, seeing as Smash 3DS will be out long before their release. On the other hand, Fire Emblem's Roy was in Melee, even though his game was released after Melee's release.
Not that long. These games have been being created simultaneously for a while.

Maybe not these remakes specifically, but I'm sure generation 3 will have representation in pokeballs.

As for Sceptile, I don't really see it happening. I think Jigglypuff will be our last playable poke.

No, what I mean is that Smash 4 likely won't reference the Ruby and Sapphire remakes, due to how late they'll be released after the 3DS version is out.
I hadn't thought about this, but that makes sense. ORAS is coming out at least 3 months after Smash 3DS. ORAS isn't likely to have a lot of new content compared to XY: a few new Mega Evolutions, a new map to explore, and new human characters to meet, etc. The actual Pokemon part isn't going to be the main draw, most likely, like with BW2 (which were still amazing games, btw).

Doubtful Game Freak would want to blow its load on Mega Sceptile so early, is basically my point. A trophy or a piece of music is probably the most we'll get. They're focusing on the new Kyogre and Groudon, right now.

So no playable Blaziken?
Good! Name one thing Blaziken is likely to do that Captain Falcon doesn't already do, except lol Fire Breath. Bowser and Charizard have that one covered. No, I'd prefer the Captain to stand out, thank you.

I don't know why this is even a thing. It's a remake of a 10 year old game, which has been referenced in Brawl already, and we've already seen 3rd Gen Pokemon in the Greninja trailer.

It doesn't even make sense to say it won't be referenced, because any reference to Ruby/Sapphire is the same exact thing. The only thing that won't be directly referenced is if there's anything remake-specific. We're probably not getting a Hoenn stage, but we're going to have Hoenn Pokeball/Masterball Pokemon. We've already seen Lati@s, Deoxys, Metagross, Gardevoir, etc.

There is almost nothing that would be able to be represented that wouldn't just be a reference to Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/3rd generation in general.

So the answer is of course it will, because any ref to RSE is a reference to OR/AS. But if you mean "will it reference remake specific content?" then probably not. Not because of the release date, but because almost none of the remake specific stuff would be things that could even be referenced. It'd be stuff like a new battle frontier or new abilities/features. Things that have absolutely no way of being represented. The best you could hope for is new music.

As for not being able to reference a game that isn't out yet:
- Roy
- Metal Gear Solid 4

Actually, that's not true. While I, personally, never considered Sceptile, a lot of people immediately went to Sceptile as an obvious choice to 'replace' Ivysaur when we got Charizard & Greninja. All the remakes did was enforce the possibility and make people drop other possibilities.
