Will Pokemon OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire have any references in Smash?

Today the remakes of both Ruby and Sapphire were announced. I was wondering if Smash would have anything from them in it.

It would be cool to see references to newer games in it.

Hoo boy. I had pretty much quit the Pokemon scene at this point, so I had no idea this had been announced today. I checked around the usual Pokemon websites, and it seems like there has been basically nothing revealed about this game except for a release date. Quite outside the norm for a Pokemon game...

I will say, however, that if I were a Sceptile fan (and I'm not), that I would be greatly encouraged by this announcement. I'd say the Sceptile guys have got to be getting hype right about now... And us Mewtwo guys are starting to worry a bit. Just a bit more.

But, uh... We have nothing but box art for these games. We have no idea what references to even hope for, other than redesigned Groudon and Kyogre for the Master Ball item in Smash 4, I guess.

If you're talking about trophies, objects and a stage, it's highly probable. If you're talking about a playable character... meh... Maybe Sceptile has some oportunity now...

Come to think of it, we didn't see Groudon and Kyogre at all yet did we? Where they in the Greninja trailer?

I really doubt it. It's super last minute, though obviously they've been working on the games for some time now. I still feel that X/Y are going to be allowed to shine for this Smash game.

Not to mention Blaziken is a more popular pokemon than Sceptile (even outside of the Hoenn starters.) Why else would he get a Mega Evolution over non-Kanto starters?

But yeh, we already have Greninja. Any more pokemon reps feels a little too heavy on the roster.

It's possible. I mean technically they already do as Gardevoir is a pokeball pokemon. :p

Well one things for sure if gamefreak told sakurai about all of the releases including this

Then groundon is easily a lock for master ball poke on ssb4 (not just because of kyogre)

But theres a problem with blaizken as a rep sceptile fits bill because sceptile can replace ivysaur and greninja replaced squirtle and charizard is already playable i really doubt 2 playable fire starters is going to happen

(Ps just winging it of a sequel to these 2 but do any think a delta emerald is possible for a game)(delta is all i can think of)

Will we see Ruby and Sapphire references? Yes. We do already. Will we see Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire references exclusively? I don't think so. I know Pokemon games start their development pretty early, but I don't think it would have lined up for the two series.

No.

We didn't even get Platinum representation in Brawl (Cresselia got in over Giratina as a hazard on Spear Pillar). People just love grasping at straws.

Games that come out right on the cusp of a new Smash Bros. tend not to get much representation. However, since Greninja is still such a new character and he made it into the playable cast, it's possible that the Pokémon Company shares its properties with Sakurai even as they're still being developed.

This is very different than Brawl though- Mario Galaxy came out in 2007 and we saw nothing in Brawl but a tiny note in the Chronicle. X/Y released seven months ago and we've got a PLAYABLE character from it, Pokeball Pokes and two stages in Smash 4. That's a huge difference.

Mario Galaxy came out three months before Brawl. Pokemon X/Y will have come out something like ten months before Smash 3D.

I agree with the sentiment that it's too late for anything from these games to appear; it would be analagous to Mario Galaxy content in Brawl, and we know that didn't happen. Also, come on, everyone knows the mighty Swampert is the greatest of the Hoenn starters. Hopefully these remakes will see Gamefreak realize the error of their ways and replace his HA with something less awful than Damp (I suggest Gooey) so he can once again rise to the top where he rightfully belongs.

But the content was saw is done at 7 months. So it's not 10 months- it's 7.

Eh, maybe. But overall, I don't think a LOT of stuff will make it in.

This is the only thread I can say this about the remakes.

SCREW YOU MICROSOFT AND SONY, YOU DON'T GOT THIS! NINTENDO IS WHERE IT'S AT! I'M SO FREAKING HAPPY! GOD, YES!

I rest my case.

About it affecting Smash Bros. , it probably won't except a confirmation of Kyorge and Groundon as Pokè Balls.

Platinum came out after Brawl. Platinum in Sep. 2008 in Japan and 2009 everywhere else. Brawl came out in 2008 everywhere.

I doubt that the Ruby and Sapphire remakes will get much attention, seeing as Smash 3DS will be out long before their release. On the other hand, Fire Emblem's Roy was in Melee, even though his game was released after Melee's release.

I feel like Grovyle/Sceptile are all but confirmed at this point due to the remakes. But we'll see I suppose, I also thought Wonder Red would be playable so what do I know

I always thought a sky pillar stage would be fun with rayquaza maybe being one of those stage bosses

Sakurai did mention that the Assists/Pokémon would be just roughly the same in both games.
Perhaps the Wii U game has more Hoenn Pokémon or things like the "Alpha Kyogre" and "Omega Groudon" featured.

wut? "all but confirmed"..... I don't think we can say that about any character except maybe Palutena. Honestly though Sceptile would be the best character in the game hands down.
